14.3hh traditional cob gelding

11 years old

Up to date with vaccinations, teeth, worming, physio and farrier

Barefoot

Passported and microchipped

He is a true leg at each corner! He is great fun and very much enjoys having a job. He is very low mileage and green for his age as he was a pet and companion before coming to me.

He has been professionally broken and ridden away by myself and is now ready to find his forever home. Please note: I am the rider in the photos and I am 5ft10

He has been started slowly and correctly and is a very honest and genuine horse to work with, he is great fun and I think he would very much enjoy getting out and seeing the world. He is green for his age so I am looking for an experienced home to continue his education, so no novices please.

He happily lives in or out, is very well mannered and good to do.

He is working well in walk, trot and canter and over poles. He will happily pop a jump and has plenty of scope. He will make a fantastic allrounder, someone is definitely going to be very lucky to call him their new best friend! And he will be sorely missed.

He hacks alone on our gallops but has not hacked in traffic due to our location, the roads are just too dangerous to ride on. However he has seen a wide variety of large vehicles while he has been with us as we have had a lot of construction done on the yard. So he has seen all types of farm machinery and tractors, diggers, dumper trucks, rollers, cement mixer Lorrie’s, all sizes of wagons, wagons tipping loads. So providing he was introduced to traffic sensibly as you would any young/green horse, then I can’t see him being a bother.

Forever homes only please, no novices, no loans, no payment plans.

Serious enquiries only please.

I will not sell him unseen so please don’t ask. Homes will be vetted.

Based East Riding of Yorkshire

Messages preferred please as I am very busy right now, if I feel you potentially might be the right match/home for him calls can be scheduled

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

  • Friendly nature

Smart coloured cob gelding. Ideal weight carrier, who has been ridden by novice and experienced riders.

Hacks well in company and proved good in traffic.

Purchased for our riding centre last year to escort hacks do some lessons. Sadly he isn’t a solid lead horse as he’s not good enough in front to take customers out.

He ended up with the winter off as we were so busy but he is now back in work and being schooled and hacked by staff to improve his flat work. He has done lessons with more experienced riders and was schooled by staff on the flat regularly last year. He did hack alone with an experienced rider but he isn’t easy in his own. He is coming along nicely on the flat and with continued schooling he would do a dressage test/ riding club activities/fun rides.

He is not a first horse as he can be a bit rude on the ground hence he is a bit of a project as he stands. He will follow out hacking with a more novice rider (this is what he did mostly previous to us). May suit horsey home with more novice partner who wants to ride as well.

He is 16hh on a stick but looks & rides bigger. He will need to travel in a lorry not a trailer.

He is a lovely boy who needs more consistency and a one to one home to bring out the best in him with someone who really adores him, sad sale as we love him but he will thrive in private home. Sometimes he forgets he is so big and barges but this has improved a lot!

He is priced to sell for his type as an ongoing project.

Dougle is by Rocky McGuire out of ID mare.

He has hunted, been xc, showjump schooling, hacks alone and in company. Great in traffic.
Easy to catch, load, farrier, dentist, travel, turned out in group or alone. No vices, no health issues.

He is not for a novice just because of his age he is a little green in places but nothing nasty.

He’s just a big horse still growing and we haven’t pushed him. He’s a serious BFG not a bad word to say about him.

Based East Sussex. Open to viewings and vettings.

Phoenix has had a very succesful show career so far, results including - 4th RIHS 2022, 2nd RIHS 2023, Qualified 2024 but didnt attend due to work commitments, Qualfied 2025 and sold with the ride

Qualified for HOYS 2022 (finished 8th) and 2023

Phoenix competes in coloured horse classes and also Maxi cob classes

He gives an exceptional ride and is always very mannerly for the ride judge, often scoring highest ride marks in his classes

Phoenix is a schoolmaster and knows his job in the ring

He also is fantastic to hack, and absolutely loves it!

Due to his lovely rhythmical and uphill paces I feel he would also be well suited to dressage.

He is Freisian X so feel this is certainly something he could excel in

He turns heads wherever he goes, he really is an oustanding horse!

Sadly available on behalf of his owner as her circumstances have changed

Whilst he is an incredibly genuine and kind horse, he would not be suited to a novice due to his size

His made to measure Black Country saddle and a Premier Equine wardrobe also available

  • Safe and sensible
  • Good ground manners

It’s with a heavy heart that I offer Skeldon Moor Jasper for sale. I’ve had the absolute pleasure of owning this special boy his entire life, having brought him home as an 8-month-old foal. He’s grown into the kindest, most genuine horse you could wish to meet.

Jasper is a true gentle giant – kind, patient, and full of character. He lives out 24/7, is a good doer, and generally an easy keeper. Broken to ride later in life, he’s had a relaxed upbringing and now enjoys a steady pace. He’s still green in the school, but shines as a happy hacker – confident alone or in company.

  • Ridden and handled by children
  • Safe and sensible, though strong due to his size – not suitable for complete novices
  • Good ground manners, stands perfectly to be groomed and fussed over
  • Bombproof in traffic, though he may spook at rattling noises behind him (e.g. trailers)
  • Needs shoeing every 8 weeks for road work – managed barefoot on soft ground when not in regular work
  • Loading requires patience – he loads with training but we don’t currently have a lorry on the yard to maintain the practice

Jasper is a confidence giver, a steady companion, and a much-loved member of the family. Finding him the perfect 5* home is my top priority – he deserves nothing less.

Located in Swanmore, Hampshire

Serious enquiries only, please – this is a very special boy

Chaps registered beautifully marked Piebald traditional cob colt. Prince would be an asset to a stud wanting to breed coloured cobs or cross bred guaranteeing an coloured foal each time. He could be produced into a top Homozygous show/dressage Stallion a serious asset to any stud. Price would do well Chaps showing.

Currently standing just under 14 hands very bum high lots of growing and filling out to do.

He is an old-fashioned chunky true to type, with an abundance of thick long mane wedding dress tail, and lots of feather.

Neat head with small ears. with perfect solid confirmation, he is very mature for his age.

He can only get better and better with time.

Prince is home bred and handled since birth

He is brilliant to catch, stable, wears rugs, great to bath with hose and buckets, Good to clip Face etc. Good to load, He has been regularly trimmed by the farrier excellent feet , Wormed up to date.

He has a very laid-back nature with a trainable attitude to life and use to farm life with tractors farm machinery.

I have rode and led him off my gelding several times around the village and he behaved like an old man.

Prince would make a top show cob with his outstanding beautiful marking's. He is covered in ink spots with no blue eyes.

His movement is very much wow factor look at me very eye-catching he covers the ground. He is very flashy.

Prince will lunge on both reins nothing serious but he knows the voice commands .Ive done this to give him a run over the winter on wet field days for a play .

Prince has a Chaps passport and I’ve had him colour tested he is Tobiano TT Homozoyous and also tested negative for PSSM1 .

Prince’s date of birth 25/06/2023. We expect him to make a full up 14.2 hands.

His sire is 14.1 hands and his Dam is 15 hands.

He can be gelded here if you don’t want a colt buyer to pay the vet fee.

Here we have a lovley mare.

Knows her job in the school - has been a riding school horse for 3 years only for sale as yard is expanding into a competition yard instead.

Lives in or out

Leg in each corner

Very thick set and built like a building

Yet light on her feet and not an extreme kick along

Loves a fuss

Not shod as she has strong feet but can be if buyer wants.

Hacks alone and in company

Enjoys the pub

Good to mount , lead , wash and load etc

Please don't ask me for videos of her doing a course of jumps - she's a lump and not built for show jumping.

However if out on a hack she will pop the small log or branches in some fashion.

Kits Pros:
Kit is fantastic with the farrier, will load on a trailer and side opening lorry, she’ll stand to be groomed (but only when she’s in the mood) and has the most amazing stable manners
Excellent with the vet, up to date with her vaccines
She’ll happily stay in or be turned out
She’s worn a bridle and saddle and took it all in her stride.
She lives out with my other mares and spent last summer out day&night
Kit LOVES men!! She’s foot perfect for every man that has done stuff with her, be it the farrier, my dad, the neighbour etc.
She has beautiful movement and the most gorgeous face. She comes to her name and can be caught easily.
Lived on a working farm, is used to cows, sheep, all farm machinery etc.

Kits cons;
Kit’s a prick. Although she lives out with my mares, she believes that she’s the alpha. She will guard the gate and haylage and threaten the mares if they come too close, and she MUST be caught first
At times, when she’s in a foul “mare” mood, she will rear up and barge into you when leading her out/in from the field. She only does this with women.
Kit has ZERO FEAR. Although it’s one of my favourite things about her, it’s also one of her biggest issues. She isn’t afraid of ANYTHING. Personally, I think she’d make a fantastic hunting cob purely from this alone. However, that does mean that when she gets told off, she thinks it’s a game, but again, only with women.

Kit needs an experienced home, with strong willed people. She’d make a fantastic ridden horse but unfortunately with my plans this year, I just won’t have the time for her. She’s a fantastic challenge for someone.

Absolute NO NOVICES, time wasters, photo collectors or price hunters.

I have owned Brave since he was twenty months (he turns five this summer) and have started his ridden career slowly with his long term future in mind. He is now a really lovely horse to ride, he is sensible yet responsive, has started to carry himself in a natural outline and has a really lovely trainable attitude.

I have taken Brave out for lessons away from home and he is sensible working with other horses and is happy for others to walk or trot past him without reacting.

Brave has a lovely jump, so far we have jumped relatively small but he is confident and happy and now ready to do more. He is good with traffic, happy to hack with another horse, person or bike. He needs to build his confidence hacking alone but this will come with time (if he loses confidence he will stop and I tend to get off and lead him and then get back on again). He stands nicely at the mounting block for you to get on and is happy for you to take your coat off once your on board if need be and to open / close gates etc.

Brave is barefoot at the moment and I can’t see any reason why he might need shoes - his feet are really good and he is never footy or sore. All of his vaccinations are up to date and he has been seen regularly by my osteopath just to make sure that everything is right with him as his work increases. His tack is available.

I would love for brave to go to a permanent home where he can be somebodys number one and will do my best to ensure the best of homes for him. He is much loved and a really special character. Please do not hesitate to call me if you would like more information

Marco, 2020, 17 Irish Draught 9” bone.

Marco was backed and ridden away by myself last year, after doing a few in hand shows he was then left to mature over the winter.

Marco has just come back to me from “boot camp” where he has had some fantastic ground work put in place in the school, but has mostly been out and about hacking and seeing the world (happy for anyone to speak to riders) He’s taken to it all like a duck to water, and loves to please. A real people person who thrives off attention.

Never been rushed or had too much asked of him as these big horses take some time to mature and fill into their big frame. Our plans for the summer where to get him out in some hunt rides, farm park rides and just show him the world followed by some time with the hounds, but due to a drastic change in our personal circumstances it’s not going to be manageable.

Good with farrier, vet, physio, to clip etc. No quirks but does have a blemish on a hock after an accident as a foal, he has never been lame with it nor does it cause any issues. He has been hogged (first picture) but it’s growing back currently

Hacks alone and in company and is willing to please.

Rides well in all 3 paces and pops round a course of fences.

Very well schooled over XC fences to include ditches and drains.

Taffy - 17.1hh Heavyweight Irish Type Gelding 13yo

Weight carrying type. Sensible sort. Wow !! Find me another one of these beautiful boys !!

Taffy has been in the same home the last ten years so we know plenty and plenty more about him. His sale is a heartbreaking one and we have made a promise to find him the best new home.

Schools very well on the flat - having most recently been liveried at an equestrian centre he's wanted for no opportunity to pop in the arena for a piece of work

Jumping he is confident and Very capable around a course of coloured fences. Currently schooling around 80cm due to previous jockey comfort limitations and not at all a reflection of his capability (her words not ours)

Loves loves loves XC & fun rides. This is his favourite ! He loves being out and about and adventuring. He been used to take out and attend events alone and in company.

Has hunted and had a great presence on the hunt field. I can defiantly see a future for him in this sphere.

A gentlemen to groom, tack up and be around in the stable. We are told he falls asleep to be clipped - infact it was his favourite day of the year. Who doesn't love an easy one to clip

Great to hack not nappy although like most horses the occasional elephant and the mouse situation may arise when he's not in full work - normally this as a result of a flappy crisp packet yet the buses lorry's and huge queue of busy traffic are easy work. Over all a level headed type you wouldn't have to worry about. Hacks alone and in company and doesn't get strong or silly in open spaces

Snaffle mouthed. Not one to buck or rear and never bolted

Loads himself into a trailer and lorry. Travels perfectly and comes off bone dry and usually looking for a little snack as a reward for being such a good boy.

Great with the farrier - we are told he can sometimes fidget with back feet when being shod so is normally given 1.5ml Domesedan Gel just for the farriers benefit / hes a big lump of a lad and leaning and moving and make for some sweaty work.

He's not one to kick or get nervous / silly so likely other farriers will just carry on with him as he is in future. Equally he's happy to go bare foot or simply shod in front. (Always Perfect to trim behind)

Perfect to catch and happy to turn out with mares and geldings.

Taff is a big boy so whilst he is very quiet laid back and sensible he does needs a slightly more than novice home.

Currently unfit and rather tubby but in work and loving lots of fuss and attention.

Has had his hocks medicated previously. No other medical history. No sweet itch sarcoids etc

Wormed and vaccinated to date

Open to any vet inspection and viewings

Sorry no loans or trials
Delivery options available nationwide
