What can I say about my boy. Words won’t do him justice but I will try.

Owned for 5 years. Has boosted my confidence so much. I will now ride young horses again. Super safe in all traffic. Will happily pop a complete novice on him and take them out. Never silly or spooky.

100% to do anything with. Clip, wash, teeth, load, tie, farrier. Bare foot with rock hard feet. Travels alone or in company, lorry or trailer. Can be left while others go out. Has been on many fun rides.

You can jump on him after months and he is still the same. I will probably regret selling him, but he just isn’t being used due to young horses needing work. In his winter woolies at the moment.

I am in no rush to sell, and will be clipping him out again over the next few days. He is a weight carrier and although built like a tank is very light on his feet.

If you are seriously interested message me first. Loads of photos and videos available.

A few answers to questions I have been asked

Will he jump 80cm? No idea. I do not jump, only pop logs and small jumps on fun rides

Do you have facilities to try? No we don’t sorry, I have a lovely video of him being professionally schooled. He was sent away over winter for schooling. Walk trot and canter.

Will he take a complete novice? Yes out hacking we have had a couple of complete novices on him, but he also steps up and works well for more experienced.

If you want something to go around an arena day in day out then he is not for you. If you want something to do lots of different things safely and come home smiling then he is your boy.

I appreciate he isn’t cheap, but what price do you put on safety

16.3hh Grey Sport Horse Gelding – 16 years old

A striking, quality grey Sport Horse gelding with real presence, a kind genuine temperament and beautiful, expressive paces. He is an athletic, smart horse with a soft, balanced way of going, making him an exciting prospect for continued flatwork, low-level dressage or a quality all-round pleasure horse.

He has previously enjoyed showjumping and is forward-thinking, willing and straightforward in the school.
He has never bucked, reared or shown any form of malice and genuinely wants to do a good job. He thrives with a confident, competent rider who can give clear, consistent guidance and build a secure partnership.

He hacks out and continues to gain confidence in new environments. He is happiest hacking in company with a confident horse and benefits from routine and regular work.

On the ground he is polite, easy to handle and a real pleasure to have on the yard.
He can be turned out alone (provided he can see other horses) or happily with company and is currently turned out with another gelding.
He is good to clip, good with the farrier and is shod in front only.
Loading has not been tested during current ownership.

He is very much a yard favourite and is genuinely enjoyed by multiple riders.
He will be missed by everyone, which speaks volumes about his temperament and rideability. With more time and consistency he continues to improve and gain confidence.

Recently vetted, which noted:
a small tail melanoma
an old superficial scar to the left fore
slight thickening of the inferior check ligament

All findings are cold, non-painful and of no clinical significance. The vet confirmed these do not affect his suitability for hacking or pleasure riding.
He has not been lame during current ownership and has had no skin issues.

This is a genuine sale due to owner circumstances.
I took a risk purchasing him without viewing or trying first and, in hindsight, found myself slightly over-horsed.
He has been nothing but kind, willing and genuine throughout my ownership.

He would suit a confident, competent rider looking for a handsome, athletic partner to enjoy schooling, hacking and further development. With consistency and the right partnership, he will continue to flourish and build confidence.

Very chunky and huge boned french bred pure breton draught chap.

The perfect novice husbands hack! He is like an armchair to ride. Will take any rider out hacking all day long.

He does need a firm handler on the ground as he is a big lad and knows his size BUT that said he isn't nasty or dangerous, just may take the micky if you aren't firm with him from the start.

He is great to load , travel and with the farrier. He is barefoot. Upto date with physio and dentist.

He has done some arena work too just not loads.

Loving home sought for such a unique hard to find chap. He has the loviest personality!

4 yo irish gelding (2021) by Cardento royale x ID mare .. sire side recorded. Full up 15.2 .. lots of substance and bone but full of quality and very light on his feet. Super step and jump. Could be produced to do any job. Potential int worker/show cob.

He has come direct from the breeder and been in a herd until a month ago so was totally unhandled. Now ties up,leads ,picks up feet , has the tack on , has done plenty of long reining in the arena and up the road and has been sat on twice and ridden around the yard.

Project for someone capable and experienced to bring on over the winter.
Could make a very good horse and will have plenty of ability.

£5950 priced to sell we have far to many in and are desperately lacking space and time.

Dolly is a 15.1hh 5 yo Irish draught mare. A super smart little maxi cob.

Has hunted this season with us and been used lightly as a hunter hireling.

We’ve only ever needed to use a snaffle on her and is a total buckle ride. Easy to do in all ways and absolutely no vices.

Can be trialed out hunting for a fee. We also had her mother who was a fabulous hunter.

Bear is a traditional stamp of an Irish Draught, with plenty of bone and substance and a trainable temperament.

He stands at approximately 16.2hh and is rising 7 years old.

A proper weight-carrying heavyweight — like an armchair to ride. As wide as he is tall, with a good solid leg on each corner.

He has hunted this season with us. He is a total gent at home and very easy to do, with absolutely no vices.

Super step with a great jump. He can be trialled out hunting for a fee.

Bear has been a very reliable hunter hireling this season, giving many people a great day’s hunting.

As a youngster, Bear was also lightly shown in hand with great success, including Champion Irish Draught at the Aintree National Show, winner of the 3-year-old youngstock class at the NW Irish Draught Show, gaining his qualification for the Moorbenhall Youngstock Final at the IDHS (GB) breed show, where he placed third.

Full Irish Draught Standing at approx 16.2 hh, 5 years. Breeding - by Devils Punchbowl (Crannagh Hero) out of a Westmeathe Lad Dam.

Red has been professionally backed and bought on slowly, trained using natural horsemanship methods. Time and care has been taken to give him the best possible start in his ridden life.

Red now needs a kind experienced person to take him out and see the world - not a nervous nelly like me! He is being sold from the field so please don’t expect to come and try riding him. His new person Must have experience with large, green horses.

- Groundwork: Red has done lots of natural horsemanship groundwork, flag training and been walked out in hand both alone and in company. He has started some in hand lateral work. He has been introduced to traffic.

- Ridden: Red can walk, trot and canter in the arena and is calm doing this also in an open grass field. He has done plenty of pole work including some raised poles. He has started some lateral work under saddle.

- Isn’t the type that needs riding every day. You can very much pick up and put him down. He is snaffle mouthed at all times. He is so easy to tack up it is like tacking up grandmas horse!

- Lives in or out. Hardy Irish type and goes out happily in all weathers.

- Barefoot, good Irish feet. Up to date with vaccinations and dentist. No health issues. Had two minor sarcoids removed 18 months ago and no return.

- Contact me for extensive video and a chat. May consider LWVTB for the right person.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Caoimhe is the easiest horse on the yard, loads herself onto our trailer, brilliant in traffic, easy to catch/shoe/clip etc.

Owned since a 3 year old, Caoimhe has done a bit of everything; unaffiliated dressage, showjumping, hunting, funrides, clinics, hunter trials, riding camps, beach rides, local working hunter classes; she is a true all rounder with a sensible brain and would make the ultimate mother/daughter share.

I take her out competing by myself and she’ll stand at or in the trailer with no fuss. Complimented every outing! Recorded breeding - green book.

Genuine reason for sale. I’d love her to go to a home where she’ll be fully enjoyed and benefit from a varied lifestyle!

Will be sold with her fitted Albion K2 saddle and made-to-measure bridle.

Will only go to the very best home - no rush to sell.

Handsome 2018 grey Irish draught gelding standing at 16.2hh, a big, upstanding and substantial horse, a real classic / traditional draught type, leg in each corner. This lovely chap would go in the show ring but does have plenty of other strings to his bow.

Archie has hunted a season, proving to be mannerly and quiet, he has then done Trec, endurance, dressage, riding club activities too.

He won the Trec Scottish champs level 1 2024 and level 2 in 2025. He’s the safest, straightest and easiest horse on the market, anyone’s ride, offering very comfortable armchair paces, easy on the eye, correct in every way and just a nice kind easy horse.

He really is the definition of ‘allrounder’ kind horse to look after and handle, safe, confidence giving and fun in every way. A best friend type.

The best hack you could find, easy in open spaces, brilliant in traffic. Open to any vet or trainer
