Freda is a rising 4 years old (DOB 06.05.22) maxi cob. Homebred foal from my Irish Draught mare, by a HW show cob stallion, Moon River (Connemara (Lecarrow King) x show winning maxi cob mare). Freda has been well-handled since a foal, and is growing into a lovely, substantial mare who is light on her feet.

She was lunged, long-reined and backed in the Autumn 2025 (video is day 3 of riding). She took everything in her stride and was hacking around the farm without company on day 5 of riding. With everything in place for this year, we turned her away to grow.

We brought her back into work, three weeks ago. She now has a strong foundation for her future and is confidently long-reining around the farm without company, including through the farmyard past farm machinery and lorries, stepping through puddles etc.

Quality heavyweight hunter or maxi cob in the making, ready to begin her work under saddle.

Searching For A Trustworthy Best Friend Type

  • Character - Gentle Natured, Polite, Family Friend

  • Height - 14.3-15.2hh max. Age - 6 - 13 years
  • Character - Gentle Natured, Polite, Family Friend
  • Type - Lightweight Cob Or Similar, Nothing Too Heavyweight.

I am just beginning my search for a trustworthy, best friend type to welcome to our kind, knowledgeable, family home. Our horses are treated as part of our family & they receive the absolute best of care. I would be happy to provide references & to keep in touch.

I have ridden for several years & consider myself a knowledgeable & capable rider. However, due to ongoing health issues with my horse, who is now retired, I haven’t ridden as consistently in more recent years & so I am no longer as confident as I once was. Therefore, I am seeking a laid back, best friend type, who does not need riding most days to remain safe & sane.

We will be enjoying fun hacks from home, attending organised pleasure rides, forest trips, XC schooling & some clinics…. maybe the odd local show in future - but just for fun! I will often be hacking alongside my young daughter on her (sometimes quirky!) horse, so it is especially important that I find a level-headed, trustworthy type who I can depend on. Due to us going out in our horsebox regularly, I would like to find a horse who is good to load / travel &, most importantly, who remains calm & polite to handle & ride in different environments.

Our horses are kept at home with us on a quiet yard. I would love to find a gentle natured, polite character & a true best friend type.

We live in a rural area & although we generally meet very little traffic, when we do, it is often likely to be a tractor/farm vehicle. Therefore, it is hugely important that my new horse is confident around this type of traffic.

* I do appreciate that no horse is ‘perfect’ & that ‘bombproof’ does not exist & I am open to compromise but please do just be honest about any possible known ‘issues’ as I will not buy unseen & would want to have any potential horse vetted *

We are based in Norfolk so ideally looking for something in or around East Anglia but would travel further if plenty of info, videos/photos could be provided beforehand. I have a sensible budget & very relaxed & loving forever home for the right horse.

Buddy is an attractive nicely marked Cob x WB gelding.

He works well in the school and does an obedient test. He has competed in unaffiliated dressage and also evented at 80cm level, with the capability of doing more.

Buddy loves to jump and is great with fillers popping around everything with ease. In the 6 years that his owner has had him he has successfully competed in many unaffiliated sj competitions and arena eventing too. He loves to go out to parties and is always well behaved.

He is good to hack alone and in company although he can be more spooky alone so needs a competent rider to give him confidence. He has done loads of fun rides and hunt rides which he really enjoys. He would make a great hunter or team chaser too!

Buddy can he temperamental to load on the trailer but he usually goes on within 10mins and the more he goes out the better he gets.

He loves to be turned out and can get bolshy on the ground without regular turnout and competent handling. For this reason he isn’t suitable for a novice inexperienced home.

He is snaffle mouthed and he’s always been barefoot. He is a really fun and characterful little horse who has a lot of offer for the right person.

He would be ideal for a competent amateur to take out to PC/RC, hunt or compete in grassroots eventing.

He has been in the same home since a 4yr old and this is a very sad sale of this much loved horse due to owners other commitments.

Stunning Palomino Irish Cob

  • Palomino
  • Mare
  • 5 years

  • Super project for someone who has time to bring her on
  • Very good to hack alone and in company
  • Superb kind friendly temperament on the ground

Offered as project on behalf of owner.
Barbie is a 16h rising 5 year old palamino Irish cob mare. Shes a gorgeous girl who catches the eye with her unique desirable colour and gorgeous head. She is a lovely quality middle weight stamp with a nice depth of girth, substance to her body and good amount of bone. She has good conformation, clean limbs, is blemish free and straight moving. Shes a very friendly girl who loves people and has the most amazing temperament however she is a sensitive soul under saddle and would benefit from being restarted and forming a one to one bond with her rider in order to reach her potential.

Barbie was started in Ireland where she was walk, trot and cantering along with jumping a small course of jumps and hacking out. It appears that she has been rushed and missed a couple of steps along the way as she can be nervous of her rider and can rush forward if she becomes unsure. She was bought by the RDA but after assessment it was evident that she wasn’t going to be suitable for them as she was just too sensitive and didn’t like someone running next to her whilst trotting. She needs a quiet experienced rider to take her back to basics (ground work initially) and to bring her on. Im sure she will make a super horse in time but she just needs 6 months of education and to gain trust in her rider. She has been ridden for several weeks at mine where she has done a mixture of schooling and hacking, mainly just walk and trot as we didn’t feel that she was ready to start canter work as she was quite green. We have recently taken her back to just ground work as she is a little weak across her back and we feel she needs to strengthen up before restarting her ridden work. She has been booked in for a physio treatment also as her back is a bit sore (has been xrayed and all clear so just muscular soreness). Shes still only young and developing so I feel she was just asked to do a bit too much too soon and needs to step back and reset.

Barbie has been super to hack, very relaxed, good in traffic and happy to lead or follow. She was also good to hack out on her own. I feel she would make a super hacking/pleasure horse in time as well as being a good alrounder as she has lovely paces and was beginning to work in an outline, just wasn’t strong enough through her body to hold it consistently.

Barbie has a kind friendly temperament. She loves people and will make someone an amazing best friend. She is a good to handle in all ways. She is good to shoe, wash and load. She lives in and out and is very chilled out and easy to have around. She is the calming influence on the yard. She currently turns out over night and comes in during the day, where she has her daily lay down. She will make someone a dream horse and form such a strong bond with her person. She just needs someone who has the time to put into her and continue with her groundwork to build up her topline before continuing with her ridden work .I think when she strengthens up in her body the ridden work will come together very nicely. Shes very much a one to one horse too.

Finding the right home is very important to us. Strictly no nervous or novices riders. She is only offered for sale as she is too green for the RDA and would really need 6 months to a year before she would be suitable for them and they haven’t got the time or money to accommodate this. She would be £12k plus if she was up and riding as horses of Barbie's stamp, colour, type and temperament are very hard to come by. Based near Huntingdon Cambridgeshire. Sold as a non ridden project. More pics and videos available on request. £6,950.
