Subulter Fern - Stunning dapple grey mare,16.1hh, 6years, weight carrier. Safe & Steady Draught / Irish Cob

Happy Hacker, Weight Carrier, Ride and Drive, Low Maintenance

Fern is an ultimate confidence giver, exceptional 16.2hh chunky mare with a leg in each corner, this rare combination of safety, strength, experience, and a heart of gold. She is kind, bold, dependable weight carrier, ideal for a wide range of riders from competent noice to more experienced jockeys who prefer a calm sensible mount with an engine.

Fern is beautifully put together and has “been there, done that” in every sense. A calm, considerate and willing mare, she is a perfect mount for riders who want to enjoy their riding at a relaxed pace without compromising on ability and responsiveness. She has a 5th gear to die for when asked, she will love jumping both coloured and rustic fences, she is bold, athletic and careful she would compete in showjumping, cross country, working hunter, hunting, the great thing about Fern is that she has the ability to excel in any discipline while remaining calm and unfazed, she is being completely wasted in a riding school as she has so much potential.

she has been driven prior to us getting her both Single, Pair: harnessed side-by-side to a carriage and team in agricultural, draught, two heavy horses working together.

Fern is currently working 4 days a week in a professional riding school environment, she has excelled with every level of rider from competent novices to advanced, group and private lessons, both under saddle and during stable management sessions.

She would be ideal for hunting. She will stand and wait calmly within large crowds and open spaces and remains completely unfazed by loud noises or horses running around her. She does not fizz up, spook or spin.

Fern loves to hack out and does so safely and calmly. She will happily hack alone or in company and has been exposed to the heaviest, fastest-moving traffic imaginable. She is completely unphased by buses, lorries, farm machinery and all types of vehicles. She remains safe and steady in all environments and does not rush or pull, even in open spaces or on the way home.

Although she is happy to go at a quiet, steady pace, she is also responsive to the leg and has three balanced, steady paces. For more experienced riders, she will work with enthusiasm and energy, always staying calm and sensible.

Fern has outstanding ground manners. She stands for hours to be groomed and fussed over, with or without a headcollar or lead rope. She is never marish or clingy, and she’s happy living in or out. In the field, she keeps herself to herself and never causes trouble, whether stabled alone or turned out in a mixed herd.

Fern has a history of excellent health and has never had laminitis, sweet itch, sarcoids, or any lumps, bumps, or unsoundness. She is currently barefoot with strong, healthy hooves and is equally happy to be shod. She is excellent to catch, great to load and travel, good with the farrier, vet, and dentist.

She is incredibly low maintenance, requiring no daily work. She can have weeks off and return to ridden work without any fuss. She maintains her condition year-round on a simple diet and is easy to manage in every way.

She passes our annual Licence Inspection, which is the equivalent of a Stage 2 vetting.

Fern is a rare gem. She is the perfect choice for someone looking for a calm, dependable, and capable all-rounder. Whether you are a novice rider, someone looking for a safe happy hacker, or a family looking for a versatile and loving horse, Fern fits the bill perfectly. She is a genuine schoolmistress who provides confidence and enjoyment in every ride and will give her next owner years of pleasure.

This is a heartbreaking sale. As part of our regular stock rotation, we give our riding school horses the opportunity to move on to private homes every few years so they can enjoy one-on-one attention and new experiences. Fern is ready to bring joy to her next rider and deserves the very best home. Sold on behalf of a working livery.

We rotate our stock so we have a few other horses and ponies available for sale.

Horse of a Lifetime- Golden Delight

  • Forward responsive ride and loves to work. Never spooky
  • Amateurs Dream - safe and easy all respects
Golden Delight (Millie) combines the rare combination of presence and talent with a lovely safe and easy temperament making her the perfect horse for ambitious amateur rider.

She has 3 expressive, powerful paces and is a forward ride and lovely soft snaffle mouth. Millie is low milage as she has been allowed to grow into her frame and is therefore a little green for her age.

She still needs to learn to balance herself at times and currently needs her rider to help her stay connected, but she is a quick learner and loves her schooling.

She shows real ability to both collect and take the weight behind and extend and has potential for the higher levels. She is very focused and does not spook in the arena.

Millie has seen coloured fences and is bold and honest to a jump but she has not done much jumping and her forte is dressage.

Millie is good to hack out alone and in company and is polite and controllable in open spaces. Millie was imported from Ireland and could have very well hunted their but we have no proof of this. She does show all the attributes to be a top class hunter as she is not marish or bothered by other horses close to her. She also would be a fantastic horse for fun/beach rides etc.

Millie is polite and easy to handle, good to catch, box, shoe, clip etc; she is a kind and friendly mare who loves people.

She really is a horse of a lifetime for the right person and is only very sadly for sale due to current owners ongoing back problem. Not for someone very novice or nervous as she does have an engine and big movement.

Millie has some very small sarcoids on her inner thigh that have not changed over the last year. She also has a heart murmur that has been fully investigated by a cardiologist is not of any concern. Report is available to confirm this. This is reflected in price.

Polly a sweet, mellow mare with a kind and gentle personality, competition experience, and great technique over fences

Polly is a 15.2h 4yo Irish draught cross bay mare. She has a very relaxed and levelheaded personality, and is exceptionally quiet alone in new places and hectic environments

She has been competing in unregistered showjumping competitions with us and proves to stay very quiet, brave and honest on course. She is not at all hot, spooky, or excitable around new jumps or chaotic warm up rings

Polly enjoys cross country schooling and has no issue with water or coffins

She loves hacking out, alone or with others. She’s very quiet around traffic, machinery, and cows, and happy to lead other horses or follow. She is also well behaved on her own or with others in open fields

Polly has a soft mouth and always goes in a loose ring snaffle. She is a ‘more woah than go’ ride and would suit a nervous rider who prefers quiet, relaxed paces

Polly is not mareish in any way and gets along well with other horses. She can live in or out without getting fresh

She is gentle and patient for handling and riding. Because she is so calm and forgiving of rider errors, we think Polly would best suit a teen looking to produce/grow with their horse, an older rider looking for a safe riding club mount, or a family looking for a safe allrounder who will happily do a bit of everything.

Polly is easy for anyone to handle, catch, load, tie, shoe, plait, bathe, mount, etc. She has no vices, lumps, or bumps.

She is open to any vetting

Bred at the Jouvin stud in France with full ownership known.

He is a very kind horse, with excellent manners. He’s broken to drive as well as ride - but we haven’t driven him so a prospective purchaser would need to bear this in mind.

He’s not put a foot wrong when ridden since being with us. He’s quiet and easy but due to his size we wouldn’t recommend him to a novice home who wouldn’t do much with him.

He enjoys his work and it would be nice to see him in a home who makes the most of his attributes.

Good to load, travel, farrier, vacs and teeth up to date!

A real smart type with good movement and plenty of limb. A type to suit many jobs!

She has such a lovely sweet temperament, very laid back to handle and deal with.

Shes just started being broken, lunging nicely with a roller on and just started long reining. Shes been a superstar with everything we have done so far and sure will be really straight forward to get on.

She shows amazing talent over a jump!

We will continue to break her, her price will increase the more she does.

Stan - 16yo 15hh cob gelding

Stan is a fun and forward low level all rounder with us on sales livery.
He is good to hack, good in open spaces, and in the heaviest of traffic. He will happily hack alone or in company and this is something he really enjoys.

He will also happily school, and is established in all three paces, but would suit a confident rider as can try to pop in a buck. We have found this isn’t anything that’s unseated us and is just his cheeky chap attitude!

What we have found is that Stan loves to jump. He hasn’t done much of this with his current owner as it isn’t their thing, but Stan has previously done SJ, XC and hunting. He’s a forward and fun type to jump, going off any stride.

Stan is not suitable for a novice rider and would do best with someone who can provide clear, consistent boundaries. He can be bolshy on the ground if allowed, however I feel with the right home this can be managed, unfortunately his current family aren’t confident enough to deal with this. We are happy to discuss this in more detail with serious enquiries.

He’s fully up to date with vaccinations, farrier, physio etc and has been a much loved member of his current family. He can also be available with his fitted tack by separate negotiation.

He would be an ideal pony for someone looking for a fun allrounder project that’s seen the world but on a limited budget.

The most loyal boy you will meet. A persons dream who really is worth his weight in gold. Never ever been sick or sorry, will turn a hoof to absolutely anything.

Beautiful Dapple Grey RID mare with a full Class 1 pedigree. "Darla" is ready to go for grading this summer. She has a kind, trainable temperament, and is a lovely horse to work with. I'm 5' 3" and do everything with her on my own. Howling wind, tractors in the yard, she's not bothered. Good to mount, bath, clip and shoe.

Darla has 3 comfortable, balanced paces and doesn't ride "big" at all. Does everything in a snaffle. Happily jumping small courses with scope to improve. She has hacked, hunted, showjumped and done fun rides in Ireland.

She's still learning to hack out alone as our current yard is on a busy road, but is good in traffic.

A special mare, that rare sort who is sensible enough for a novice, but quality enough to be enjoyed by a more experienced rider.

15.2hh Piebald Gelding | 9 Years | Outstanding Allrounder with Presence

CHAPS Passport

Numpty is a striking 15.2hh piebald gelding, 9 years old, with a huge personality and presence to match. A true “sports horse in a cob body” – forward-thinking, enthusiastic, and always keen to work. He is a real substantial traditional cob.

He is a versatile allrounder with experience across multiple disciplines including;

Hunting, where he has jumped hedges, rails, walls, ditches, traps etc. He has been hunted by other people. He even took a friend for her first ever days hunting. Often holding gates for the field to pass through. Will stand impeccably at meets and between lines.

Showjumping, arena hires, pole clinics, cross-country schooling, hunter trials, team chasing, dressage, endless funrides and showing. He is consistently placed in the ribbons. He has also stewarded at hunt scurries and will happily lead other horses. He doesn’t get fizzy or silly at any event, he will stand around quietly whether on the box, tied up or mounted.

An absolute pleasure to hack, super safe!! Forward going. Completely unfazed by traffic and excellent with gates. He will happily stand patiently while gates are opened and closed, whether mounted or dismounted. He will allow a rider to mount from anything.

He adapts well and can plod along quietly on the lead rein or take care of a novice rider out hacking, including unbalanced riders. He has been hacked out along a busy A road by a complete beginner! He does not react to other horses being stupid, he’s the type to stand and wait if another horse takes off, often takes the lead past scary objects! He doesn’t get silly in open spaces will happily walk, trot, canter or gallop through a field. Respectful of what you ask from him. He has been regularly ridden and competed by my competent now 11-year-old daughter, who also hacks him out alone.

That said, he is not a novice owner’s horse. He is intelligent and knows his job. He’s best suited to a confident, consistent rider/handler to get the best from him.

Forward-going in the school with a willing attitude and three correct paces. With his eye-catching markings and presence, he would excel in the showing ring. Equally enjoys just being a happy hacker.

* Excellent to load and travel in a trailer; stands quietly for long periods
* Happy to stand tied to the box for hours or remain on board
* Good for the farrier
* Can live in or out; happy alone or in company
* Easy to keep—lives on fresh air
* Fit and ready to go
* Great to catch and lead
* Used to the hustle and bustle of a busy working farm

Bad points - he can’t be perfect with everything!

* Requires sedation for clipping - only hogged for hunt season
* Windsucks occasionally after hard feed/treats (not always and does go days without doing it) will typically do this in the air for a few minutes. Solution would be no hard feed/treats.
* Has a couple of very small sarcoids on his sheath, haven’t changed in the years I’ve owned him, could be treated but have never bothered me. You would never notice them unless pointed out.

He is very much a “one-person” horse who forms a strong bond with his owner. Affectionate in his own way (he loves kisses!) but not one for being fussed by everyone.

A very difficult and genuine sale of a much-loved horse. Owned for nearly 3 years. Sadly, I have had to accept that he is just too quiet for me, and it is time for him to find someone who will fully enjoy and appreciate him.

A real head-turner who is always complimented wherever he goes!!

Absolutely no dealers or nervous/novices. Long term private home sought after!! A home where I could ideally keep in touch.

Open to any vet/inspection
