Bear is a traditional stamp of an Irish Draught, with plenty of bone and substance and a trainable temperament.

He stands at approximately 16.2hh and is rising 7 years old.

A proper weight-carrying heavyweight — like an armchair to ride. As wide as he is tall, with a good solid leg on each corner.

He has hunted this season with us. He is a total gent at home and very easy to do, with absolutely no vices.

Super step with a great jump. He can be trialled out hunting for a fee.

Bear has been a very reliable hunter hireling this season, giving many people a great day’s hunting.

As a youngster, Bear was also lightly shown in hand with great success, including Champion Irish Draught at the Aintree National Show, winner of the 3-year-old youngstock class at the NW Irish Draught Show, gaining his qualification for the Moorbenhall Youngstock Final at the IDHS (GB) breed show, where he placed third.

Full Irish Draught Standing at approx 16.2 hh, 5 years. Breeding - by Devils Punchbowl (Crannagh Hero) out of a Westmeathe Lad Dam.

Red has been professionally backed and bought on slowly, trained using natural horsemanship methods. Time and care has been taken to give him the best possible start in his ridden life.

Red now needs a kind experienced person to take him out and see the world - not a nervous nelly like me! He is being sold from the field so please don’t expect to come and try riding him. His new person Must have experience with large, green horses.

- Groundwork: Red has done lots of natural horsemanship groundwork, flag training and been walked out in hand both alone and in company. He has started some in hand lateral work. He has been introduced to traffic.

- Ridden: Red can walk, trot and canter in the arena and is calm doing this also in an open grass field. He has done plenty of pole work including some raised poles. He has started some lateral work under saddle.

- Isn’t the type that needs riding every day. You can very much pick up and put him down. He is snaffle mouthed at all times. He is so easy to tack up it is like tacking up grandmas horse!

- Lives in or out. Hardy Irish type and goes out happily in all weathers.

- Barefoot, good Irish feet. Up to date with vaccinations and dentist. No health issues. Had two minor sarcoids removed 18 months ago and no return.

- Contact me for extensive video and a chat. May consider LWVTB for the right person.

Colby is a quality pure breed Irish Draught gelding that I imported as a foal from Ireland and have owned ever since. He was professionally broken this summer and has been given a varied and correct start to his ridden career.

He has had a busy summer, including riding holidays, hunter trials, fun rides and beach rides, and has hunted with me this season. He has always jumped everything asked of him and shows a very honest and brave attitude.

A true heavyweight type with a leg in each corner, a great shoulder and a good length of rein.

Good to do in all ways with no stable vices. Hacks happily alone or in company.

Still green in the school, as his education has focused more on getting him out and about, but he works in a lovely outline, is nicely off the leg and has good transitions.

Looking for a knowledgeable, experienced home where he will not be wasted. Not suitable for a novice rider or anyone looking specifically for a weight carrier.

A genuine, talented young horse with a very bright future.

Guss is a 16.1hh 4yo Irish gelding and a true confidence giver. He happily hacks out alone or in company and is rock solid in traffic. He loads and travels in anything, is always ridden in a snaffle, and has no stable vices.

He has hunted this season and is one of the most mannerly and straightforward young horses you could find. Guss stands like a rock at the meet, is sensible with hounds, and has never lifted a leg or shown any nastiness towards other horses.

He has competed in clear round jumping at Felbridge up to 80cm and has schooled around East Byshe arena eventing, taking everything in his stride. He will happily work in the arena, although he is still green, as expected for his age.

Guss is easy to do in all ways — good to catch, clip, load and shoe. He is an honest, kind gelding with a fantastic temperament and is a real friend to have around the yard.

A genuine, unspoilt young horse with the best attitude, ready to continue his education and excel in a variety of homes.

Regularly hunted and whipped in this season but is proving too strong for lady rider, even with stronger bit in. Will pop an Obstacle out and about and has cross country schooled but isn’t a showjumper as he doesn’t enjoy working in an arena.

Easy and kind to do. Would suit a husband who wants to hunt or go on pub rides. Not suitable for a novice as he’s a big strong , forward going horse.

Up to date with teeth etc. Only for sale as lady rider would like something a little more nimble and slightly less wide!

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

MARTHA
Sweet 2021 15hh coloured Irish mare, with a very friendly and kind personality.

Martha is a sweetheart to handle and have around, she’s very friendly, inquisitive and easy. She’s fantastic to hack out when she is on her own or with others, sensible in open spaces and great in all types of traffic.

Martha has three nice paces on the flat, she works in a snaffle and would produce a nice dressage test, she has great self carriage and works in a nice frame.

Jumping wise she’s great. She will pop rustic fences and coloured fences and we have jumped her up to 90cm, she’s done some low level riding club activities and she’s a nice type for someone to get home and enjoy straight away.

Despite being young Martha is safe and sensible, she’s a quiet ride and enjoys work.

She’s a lovely stamp and could certainly go in the show ring, a real take the leg up type.
