Quality gypsy cob mare

Quality gypsy cob mare

We have bred and owned Mulligan all her life. She has always been super easy to do, so much so, shes always the one who gets left, and not ridden. Whilst I find her super easy, and if anything, like it when shes not been ridden for a month and is a little fresh, we have had a few try her and found her too forward for them.
There is no need to kick on this mare, leg on means go. She marchs in walk and trots out, keeping up with any horse. She loves a canter across the fields and tracks, but pulls up easy in a snaffle.
Personally I find circles in an arena boring, (plus we don’t have an arena) so we do not do it. If you want a dressage horse, you will need to put the work in, as our idea of fun is hacking. However she has been to dressage and show jump shows with a friend many years ago, so the buttons will still be there, its up to you if you want them, and if so you might need to re program.
Her forte is hacking, heavy traffic is no issue, gates she’s a pro, she’s safe in open spaces, she goes first or last, and is confident on her own.
You can ride and lead her, or from her, so super easy.
She is a unit, i’m 5ft6 and she takes up my leg, and some, I’ve never felt too big for her. Shes super comfortable to ride with plenty of neck and shoulder in front of you.
She is only for sale as I’ve bred myself a taller version and if she gets ridden once a fortnight she’s done well.
If you are into your gypsy cob breeding you will see she has great breeding, and is very correct if you wanted to show.
She needs her own person, but of you are coming from a riding school, are used to kicking every stride, or are hoping for a mother daughter share for your ten year old who is still struggling with rising trot, she is unlikely to be for you, you are likely to feel over horsed.
She is kind, super fun and gives you a great fun ride.
She is and has always been barefoot, easy to clip, bath, spray etc. She is vaccinated, has had a foal (we are a stud) three years ago which she did easily and her foal is still with us (also for sale).
Her ideal home is someone who wants to hack out, have a good canter across fields, do some fun rides etc
We have them in each night, and in the winter we have little / no turnout and she’s happy to stay in 24/7. She doesn’t get fresh or silly when in.
The home and person is every important, as she is a member of our family, but she is surplus to needs at the moment, and she could give someone a lot of fun.
She has an Albion saddle, Seddon bridle and a larger wardrobe than me that I’m happy to discuss

Will plod along with a nervous rider and also step up for someone more experienced.

Bombproof in traffic, she loves to hack.

Easy to box, clip and shoe although currently barefoot with great feet.

She’s beautifully marked, very sociable and loves a fuss. Always good to catch and wants to be your best friend

Beautiful Dapple Grey RID mare with a full Class 1 pedigree. "Darla" is ready to go for grading this summer. She has a kind, trainable temperament, and is a lovely horse to work with. I'm 5' 3" and do everything with her on my own. Howling wind, tractors in the yard, she's not bothered. Good to mount, bath, clip and shoe.

Darla has 3 comfortable, balanced paces and doesn't ride "big" at all. Does everything in a snaffle. Happily jumping small courses with scope to improve. She has hacked, hunted, showjumped and done fun rides in Ireland.

She's still learning to hack out alone as our current yard is on a busy road, but is good in traffic and great to hack in company.

A special mare, that rare sort who is sensible enough for a novice, but quality enough to be enjoyed by a more experienced rider.

Super smart quality all rounder. Knows his way around a cross country and show jumping course. Jumps for fun.

Schooled on the flat but would much rather be off out flying over jumps, although, he will try and do a dressage test for you.

The sweetest boy who is very genuine. A nice chilled hack. Has been on fun rides this spring as well as beach rides and cross country schooling with customers.

Good to do with no vices.

Looking for a mother's hunter type horse of the genuine, safe, mannerly, experienced kind! Open to buy or Loan. MUST have previously hunted not just seen hounds please!

Doesn't need to be a George Clooney in appearance! Happy to consider an older horse looking to step down from the bigger hunting days who would settle into smaller jump country.

No need for world beaters or puissance horses as we hunt the more trot & pop, trappy country not large grass fields with hedges but it must still be happy to go off alone and jump. MUST be good with hounds around it's legs and go off alone leaving the field happily when trail hunting!

Apart from being 15.2 hh and above (may consider a little smaller if well built) with a good shoulder in front, there is no other specific requirements - just a safe and experienced horse that won't erupt into outer space if left unridden for a week.

Based in the North East. Kept on a small private yard with other horse friends!

Thank you for taking the time to read! Keeping fingers crossed that someone, somewhere will have something to suit!

I have been lucky enough to start this lovely horses education under saddle for her owner who has sadly now decided it’s time to find her a new long term 5* home.

Owned by her current owner since a weanling she is much loved so top homes only please.

She is a wonderful girl with all the attributes to be a top all rounder, she enjoys jumping and has jumped lots of different xc and show jumps without a second thought, she has been unaffiliated show jumping and enjoys that.

She is a super hack, I believe hacking is the best way to ride young horses away so she has done lots of hacking on her own and in company.

She has huge potential in dressage in particular, she is forward thinking without being strong or sharp, she has natural energy and expression in her movement and is keen to please. I wish I was in a position to take her on myself as she is going to be a lot of fun to train up the levels and extremely safe with it.

She has been out to an unaffiliated dressage show gaining high marks and lovely comments.

15hh Welsh Cob gelding looking for his next home.

Barney is a quality young Welsh Cob with excellent traditional breeding, including the renowned Seiont, Nebo and Derwen bloodlines. He is a lovely stamp of a horse with plenty of presence and potential for the future.

Over the last year we have taken a step back from ridden work due to my own time commitments and focused on groundwork, confidence building and helping Barney develop a better understanding of what is being asked of him. He has benefited greatly from this slower approach and has matured well.

Barney was lightly backed previously (2025) and showed promise before being turned away to continue his education from the ground. He is now ready for someone knowledgeable to take the next step with him and continue his development.

His sale is through absolutely no fault of his own. With family life and a young child taking up more and more of my time, I simply cannot give him the consistency and attention he deserves.

This is a genuine sale of a much-loved horse. He is priced to reflect both his quality breeding and his current level of education, offering someone the opportunity to put their own stamp on a well-bred young horse with a bright future ahead of him.

I struggle with phone calls so please where possible text first

Rio - 7 year old 15hh Welsh D x PRE

A super fun and confident chap, Rio is well schooled with good paces. He’s polite in the contact and has his basic lateral work down. Snaffle mouthed for everything.

Great to hack out alone or in company, good in traffic. Jumping is where he really excels, he takes you in to a fence and can make a great shape.

Very brave, never spooks at fillers. When he’s excited he can throw in a buck out of exuberance, nothing unseating but because of this he’d suit a more confident rider.
He’d be an ideal horse for someone who’d like to get out competing straight away, he’d pop round a 90 track tomorrow quite happily and move up quickly. He’s been to PC camp, done mounted games etc and behaved well. Rio has been XC schooling at a few venues proving himself to be bold and scopey.

He’s an easy horse to have around, has lovely ground manners and a friendly, cheerful attitude. Good to catch, lead, shoe and load, no stable vices. Turns out on his own or with others.

Rio is sold on behalf of a client.

Selling on behalf of a friend:
Clydesdale X Cob. 17.1hh, 5 years old with an Irish passport.

Clyde is a true gentle giant – do not be put off by his height or age. His current owner is 5ft 6 and 8 stone. For sale due no fault of his own – happy to discuss circumstances. Full history known.

Clyde has been a joy to hack for the last 14 months (alone and in company). In open fields he doesn’t hot up and is happy to canter at the back of a group; he is always well behaved. He has never bucked or reared and is superb in all traffic.

Will sweetly plod on a long rein, is voice responsive to halt, has a nicely forward trot and a relaxed and comfy canter. He has recently completed some professional schooling.

This fabulous boy is a real people horse, he’s fantastic to catch, loves being pampered, is good for the farrier, travels well and is just a joy to have around. In the field he loves everyone and gets along with mares and geldings alike.

He has successfully been treated for two sarcoid’s by the Equine Vet in Liverpool with positive results (documentation can be provided).

Clyde has very mild sweet itch which is managed really well with Biteback products and a fly rug. He comes with tack (professionally fitted Thoroughgood saddle and a bridle) and fly rug.

No expense has been spared on this lovely gentleman, an excellent home is of the upmost importance.

  • Safe hack / super PC Pony

Dotty stands at around 14.2hh and is 7 years old. She is a super fun pony, suitable for smaller adults or experienced children looking for a bigger, more capable pony. She absolutely loves her jumping and has competed in hunter trials at Munstead and East Bysshe, as well as achieving clear rounds in show jumping at Felbridge, Pycombe, and Munstead. She has also enjoyed cross-country schooling at Littleton, Munstead, Lockskinners, and East Bysshe, proving to be brave, genuine, and very willing.

On the flat, Dotty has good basic flatwork. She is a forward, responsive ride and is nicely off the leg.

Out hacking, she is brave and unflappable, unfazed by heavy traffic, and a lovely forward-going ride. We also took her on a fun ride in April with the Staff College Drag Hounds, where she was great fun throughout.

Dotty is a very kind and genuine pony with a big, scopey jump, but she is not suitable for a nervous novice child or inexperienced rider. She is a proper competition pony looking for a competitive home — not a riding school pony. Please be realistic about your riding ability. She is very forward and talented and has jumped some riders off who have come to see her thinking she is “just a coloured cob.” She needs a confident and capable rider who can enjoy and get the best out of her.

She is good to do in all ways with no stable vices and is an easy little mare to have around — you can park her anywhere and hardly know she’s there.

Please note, Dotty will not suit very young novice children and is not a weight carrier.

Serious pony for someone looking to get out on some pony club rally’s, show jumping or eventing this summer with her new rider.

Dennis aka (E.F Al Capone). Hard to find, 3yo blue and white Sport/Maxi Cob.

Dennis was bred at Saltus Sports Horses before they were officially established. He is a very much loved and cared for member of the family owned since 6 months. Dennis is currently standing at 15.2hh with a bit of growing left to do. He is a stunningly correct example of his type with a huge chest and hindquarters, and a nice amount of bone (9inches clean flat bone) without being too heavy. He moves beautifully and is so light and uphill for his stamp, with a very powerful engine.

Dennis would excel in the showring but also has an incredible jump and huge scope and would make a cracking working hunter. He will go all the way in the right hands. Dennis is a beautiful person, handled regularly from 6months he is good with his feet, up to date with worming, teeth and Jabs. He loves people and a fuss and loves nothing more than putting his head on you shoulders for a scratch behind the ears, he will be your best friend.

Dennis is AES registered out of a traditional Mare by Saltus very own Samenco V'ant Kieveld, a beautiful Belgian warmblood stallion.

Lots of photos and videos available on request.

He has seen tack, isnt bothered by anything and will be very easy.

Only the best of homes need enquire, Dennis deserves the best where he will have a job and progress successfully, he is a very special and whoever has him will be very lucky. Dennis does have a small scar on his hind pattern from a field injury as a foal but this doesn't affect him in any way and we covered it with make up for showing, where he was placed 1st!

15.2hh Piebald Gelding | 8 Years | Outstanding Allrounder with Presence

CHAPS Passport

Numpty is a striking 15.2hh piebald gelding, 9 years old, with a huge personality and presence to match. A true “sports horse in a cob body” – forward-thinking, enthusiastic, and always keen to work. He is a real substantial traditional cob.

He is a versatile allrounder with experience across multiple disciplines including;

Hunting, where he has jumped hedges, rails, walls, ditches, traps etc. He has been hunted by other people. He even took a friend for her first ever days hunting. Often holding gates for the field to pass through. Will stand impeccably at meets and between lines.

Showjumping, arena hires, pole clinics, cross-country schooling, hunter trials, team chasing, dressage, endless funrides and showing. He is consistently placed in the ribbons. He has also stewarded at hunt scurries and will happily lead other horses. He doesn’t get fizzy or silly at any event, he will stand around quietly whether on the box, tied up or mounted.

An absolute pleasure to hack, super safe!! Forward going. Completely unfazed by traffic and excellent with gates. He will happily stand patiently while gates are opened and closed, whether mounted or dismounted. He will allow a rider to mount from anything.

He adapts well and can plod along quietly on the lead rein or take care of a novice rider, including unbalanced riders. He has been hacked out along a busy A road by a complete beginner! He does not react to other horses being stupid, he’s the type to stand and wait if another horse takes off, often takes the lead past scary objects! He doesn’t get silly in open spaces will happily walk through a field. Respectful of what you ask from him. He has been regularly ridden and competed by my competent now 11-year-old daughter, who also hacks him out alone.

He’s best suited to a confident, consistent rider/handler to get the best from him.

Forward-going in the school if you ask him to be with a willing attitude and three correct paces. With his eye-catching markings and presence, he would excel in the showing ring. Equally enjoys just being a happy hacker.

* Excellent to load and travel in a trailer; stands quietly for long periods
* Happy to stand tied to the box for hours or remain on board
* Good for the farrier
* Can live in or out; happy alone or in company
* Easy to keep—lives on fresh air
* Fit and ready to go
* Great to catch and lead
* Used to the hustle and bustle of a busy working farm

Bad points - he can’t be perfect with everything!

* Requires sedation for clipping - only hogged for hunt season
* Windsucks occasionally after hard feed/treats (not always and does go days even weeks without doing it) will typically do this in the air for a few seconds. Solution would be no hard feed/treats.
* Has a couple of very small sarcoids on his sheath, haven’t changed in the years I’ve owned him, could be treated but have never bothered me. You would never notice them unless pointed out.

A very difficult and genuine sale of a much-loved horse. Owned for nearly 3 years. Sadly, I have had to accept that he is just too quiet for me, and it is time for him to find someone who will fully enjoy and appreciate him.

A real head-turner who is always complimented wherever he goes!!

Absolutely no dealers or nervous/novices. Long term private home sought after!! A home where I could ideally keep in touch.

Open to any vet/inspection

Angel...genuine reluctant sale...needs a better rider!

"Angel of the High Woods" or Angie for short is a 15yr old beautiful bucksin mare. She is a cross between a Selle Francais and a Normandy Cob from the Elevage Jouvin family in Normandy. As such she has the strength and gentle character of the Normandy and the spirit and beauty of the Selle Francaise. Despite being 15 and well broken in; she only has the mileage of a 6 year old and while knowing the basics is rather green. That said she learns quickly and having been brought back into work just recently is progressing well. However she has a strong opinion and needs firm but gentle guiding and instruction from a confident rider which I am not, hence the reason for my reluctant sale. She is not spooked by anything - chickens, goats, cattle, diggers, tractors, dogs, cars not an issue, her only odd trait is occasional reluctance to be saddled but we are working on that and once on she relaxes she is fine. UPDATE AS AT 28/05/26 - her little skittish trait has not shown up for the last 4 weeks. Progress is being made as she comes back into work. Should I put the price back up I wonder?

Loads impeccably, stands to be washed and feet done. Lives on fresh air - literally grass and hay and the odd carrot.

Currently barefoot but has been shod in the past I believe but her hooves are in excellent condition. Her colour is beautiful with a dark buckskin dapple appearing now in her summer coat. Her movement is lovely and very comfy to ride. She has lived out all her life in large herd and currently is out daytimes and stabled at night. Middle ranking in the herd currently with a gelding and a mare.

Lovely gentle sweet nature on the ground, loves a good scratch and being groomed. Great out on the trail and has popped over a small jump recently. Being buckskin she would make an excellent western trail horse. She has had a western saddle on and has had a little schooling in western that could be continued.

Up to date with shots and worming. Teeth good and recently had her back checked and has no issues.

I am looking for a super safe hacking partner who would also enjoy the occasional beach trip/ fun ride and some low level dressage/ riding club clinics.

Quiet, kind temperament of most importance. Prefer something that has been out and seen the world. Must be confident to hack out alone and in company and must be good in traffic.

15.3-17hh depending on build.

Experienced horse owner who will provide top care for her new member of the family with plenty of turnout and lovely private yard. I can provide references, happy to keep in touch etc.
