I'm searching for a kind, genuine horse to become part of the family. This is a long-term, forever home on a peaceful private yard where every horse is treated as an individual, pampered endlessly, and loved like a best friend.

With my new equine partner I'd love to spend time out hacking, doing the occasional fun ride, an annual beach trip, schooling at home up to Novice level, and some low level dressage shows. I'm looking for a family horse rather than a competition type that needs daily riding.

Said horse needs to be 16-17hh and can be of any age as attitude and temperament are of most importance. I would consider slightly smaller if a smart cob type. The main priority is that my new horse is super safe and non spooky to hack alone and in company, not silly in groups and rock solid in traffic. As long as nice basic paces are there I am happy to put in the work on the flat. Horse must be a quiet personality that enjoys a peaceful home not the hustle and bustle of a busy livery yard. I have a mini bestie here waiting to meet him new mate!

I have a mid teen budget for the perfect horse and a stable ready and waiting. I have a great team of professionals around me and I would be delighted to keep in contact. I am not a overly confident rider (or person!) but I can ensure you I will provide a knowledgeable and experienced home for a genuine horse and I can of course supply references.

Heartbreaking sale of my much-loved mare Iris. Finding the right home is my absolute priority.

I’ve owned her since she was 2 and have carefully backed her alongside my trainer. She is a chunky, hardy type with plenty of presence, she’d make a great hunter.

Together we’ve done light schooling and a lot of hacking around village lanes, both in company and with someone on foot. We’ve not yet hacked completely solo, but once she’s built trust with a confident handler/rider, I think she’d be great to hack solo as she’s happy to take the lead when out in company. She can spook at a bird in the bushes, but is unfazed by traffic, tractors, sheep, cows, and general village life. She enjoys her ridden work, has always looked after me and tries her best. We’ve recently moved yards and now have access to some amazing hacking along bridleways and she’s taken it all in her stride.

Due to a change in circumstances in March, I have only been able to continue with groundwork and some light hacking. She’s ready for someone with the time and experience to bring her back into consistent ridden work and further her education. She will soon be schooled twice a week to build up her fitness. She will be an easy project for someone to help her reach her full potential – all of the foundations are there.

She is still young and can be opinionated on the ground when unsure, so is therefore not suitable for a novice and requires a confident, knowledgeable home. Whilst she’s not particularly forward going in the school, she can be sharp given her age. She is very mareish so needs clear and consistent boundaries, particularly when she’s being handled. She’s very curious and brave for a youngster. I’ve done a lot of desensitising with her, and have also done working equitation (in hand as it was before she was backed), and she wasn’t phased by any of the obstacles.

Iris has previously lived out 24/7 quite happily. She’s now currently in during the day and out at night, and is good to do in the stable – she has no vices (other than being quite messy!). She previously had front shoes due to the bridleways at our last yard, but is currently barefoot with no issues – she has good, solid feet. Whilst I don’t have my own transport and therefore haven’t taken her out much, she does load and travel well in a 3.5T (what I have had access to). Her teeth and vaccinations are up to date.

This is an incredibly sad sale as I have invested a huge amount of time, effort and love into Iris and have formed a great bond with her. She has huge potential but sadly needs more work and consistency than I am able to provide.

A delight on the ground to handle manors are fantastic in the stable to muck out around etc

Loves a pamper and groom great manors for the farrier have also be shod for showing in past, stands like a rock to bath, good with mares and geldings donkeys and dogs and small children.

She is still green in the school, so she is not a novice ride and will require a knowledgeable, experienced owner to continue her education. However, she has all the ingredients to make an outstanding lifelong partner. She has shown a real willingness when hacking and happily goes out both alone and in company.

She has the sweetest nature – kind, genuine, and easy to have around. She is good with dogs, not mareish or bolshy, and has been brought up with plenty of love and attention. She does have a capped hock, which has been thoroughly assessed by both my vet and physio. They have no concerns, as it is purely cosmetic and does not affect her soundness or ability. This has been reflected in her price.

We have bred and owned Mulligan all her life. She has always been super easy to do, so much so, shes always the one who gets left, and not ridden. Whilst I find her super easy, and if anything, I like it when shes not been ridden for a month and is a little fresh, we have had a few try her and found her too forward for them.

There is no need to kick on this mare, leg on means go. She marchs in walk and trots out, keeping up with any horse. She loves a canter across the fields and tracks, but pulls up easy in a snaffle.

Personally I find circles in an arena boring, (plus we don’t have an arena) so we do not do it. If you want a dressage horse, you will need to put the work in, as our idea of fun is hacking. However she has been to dressage and show jump shows with a friend many years ago, so the buttons will still be there, its up to you if you want them, and if so you might need to re program.

Her forte is hacking, heavy traffic is no issue, gates she’s a pro, she’s safe in open spaces, she goes first or last, and is confident on her own.

You can ride and lead her, or from her, so super easy.

She is a unit, i’m 5ft6 and she takes up my leg, and some, I’ve never felt too big for her. Shes super comfortable to ride with plenty of neck and shoulder in front of you.

She is only for sale as I’ve bred myself a taller version and if she gets ridden once a fortnight she’s done well.

If you are into your gypsy cob breeding you will see she has great breeding, and is very correct if you wanted to show.

She needs her own person, but if you are coming from a riding school, are used to kicking every stride, or are hoping for a mother daughter share for your ten year old who is still struggling with rising trot, she is unlikely to be for you, you are likely to feel over horsed.

She is kind, super fun and gives you a great fun ride.

She is and has always been barefoot, easy to clip, bath, spray etc. She is vaccinated, has had a foal (we are a stud) three years ago which she did easily and her foal is still with us (also for sale).

Her ideal home is someone who wants to hack out, have a good canter across fields, do some fun rides etc

We have them in each night, and in the winter we have little / no turnout and she’s happy to stay in 24/7. She doesn’t get fresh or silly when in.
