Very smart Irish cob

He would make a lovely allrounder

He has such a sweet personality and would stand to be pampered all day long! Has been great to catch/farrier/clip/load ect. He rides well in the arena and has been super to hack out alone or in company in traffic ect.

Great mover so would do a lovely dressage test.

He wouldn’t suit a total novice as still needs confidence from his rider, absolutely no badness whatsoever just needs miles. Not a spooky type.

He really is a lovely chap who is ready to be loved and go and see the world!

  • Sadly looking for a new home due to owner giving up horses.
  • 15.2 HW Cob gelding, 9 years old.

Up to date with teeth & vaccinations. Has regular routine Osteo, physio, saddle fitting etc

Good to catch, bath, clip (twitch for legs and ears), load, travel etc

We've had Bugsy for 3 years where he has mostly hacked and hunted. He was bought for a petite lady Master to enjoy social days out hunting, and he does exactly that. He's a pleasure; goes in a snaffle, front middle or back. Keeps up but with a level head. Great with hounds. We've not jumped him (no need) and although not a thrusters horse, will get over a log etc in the way, if needed. Perfect through/over ditches.

Very sensible out hacking. We're based just off a busy High Street and he regularly rides through the town, completely unfazed by traffic. Rides under/over motorway bridges. Prefers to go in company, but will go alone with a confident rider. He is not silly in anyway, just not the bold, brave type that'll take you. We have no problems and he does regularly go on his own.

This summer, I decided to have a go at showing him, where he far exceeded expectations. Although unaffiliated, he went Super Supreme at the Sunshine Tour Championship (Hickstead) and had fantastic comments from all the judges and stewards, including one who judges cobs professionally. I expect he would do very well with someone keen on the showing circuits.

Has been to some unaffiliated dressage, coming home with scores of 70%+ at both Intro and Prelim level. Sure to climb the ladder with more work.

Loads and travels on trailer or lorry. Very easy to have out and about on your own. Will stand on the box waiting all day if needed.

He's generally a cheeky chappy, that's fun to have around. He is pretty easy to do in all ways, although I couldn't say what he would be like for a novice, as he's only ever been ridden and handled by experienced people. We will be sad to see him go.

Has been out to a few hound exercises and Autumn hunting through September, so fit and ready to go. No major rush to sell, so we will keep him going and find the absolute perfect home for him.

He does mildly suffer with Mallenders & Sallenders and CPL (like A LOT of cobs these days!). We easily manage it with a correct diet, plenty of movement, and regular clipping. If this is a major problem for you, please do not waste my time.

Based in Newport Pagnell, Bucks

Tack & rugs potentially available by negotiation

Please PM or call 07969 875803 for more details. I am generally very busy so please leave a message or WhatsApp and I will get back to you.

Full Irish Draught Standing at approx 16.2 hh, 5 years. Breeding - by Devils Punchbowl (Crannagh Hero) out of a Westmeathe Lad Dam.

Red has been professionally backed and bought on slowly, trained using natural horsemanship methods. Time and care has been taken to give him the best possible start in his ridden life.

I am looking to see if I can find a kind, experienced home for him, selling him from the field, if not he will go to a reputable sales livery where his price will increase. Previous experience of dealing with large green horses is essential. He is a fabulous horse but is very green and not the bravest. That said he is such a quick learner and once he is familiar with things he is Mr Chill.
Groundwork: Red has done lots of natural horsemanship groundwork, flag training and been walked out in hand both alone and in company. He has started some in hand lateral work. He has been introduced to traffic and needs to continuewith this. He enjoys his groundwork and is the type of horse you can build a strong connection with and he will do anything for you.

Ridden: Red can walk, trot and canter in the arena and is calm doing this also in an open grass field. He has done plenty of pole work including some raised poles. He has started some lateral work under saddle. He has hacked out a few timesunder saddle across quiet bridleways to build his confidence. He isn’t the type that needs riding every day – far from it. You can very much pick up and put him down. He is snaffle mouthed at all times. He is so easy to tack up it is like tacking up grandmas horse!

Lifestyle: Red will happily live in and out. Like most horses his preference is to be out but he isn’t the type to get silly. As long as he has food he is happy. He is a hardy Irish type and lives on fresh air! He doesn’t need masses of rugging and is really low maintenance. He is great in all weathers.

Handling: Red is easy to handle, easy to worm, good for farrier, easy to tack up etc. He always comes up to you in the field. He will turn out on his own, with geldings and with mares. He is a friendly inquisitive young horse. He loves a groom and a pamper and he absolutely loves a hose down/ bath! I haven’t ever clipped him. He is a quiet horse to have on the yard.

Travelling: I bought Red direct from Ireland and when first arrived over he was very nervous to travel. We have done lots of practice and he loads like a pro but I do just give me a touch of sedalin to travel to keep building the positive experiences for him. Without the sedalin he just takes about half an hour to settle but simply paws and whinnies. He travels in a 3.5 box without the partition. He travels very well on his own with a haynet. He hasn’t ever been in a trailer.

Feet: He has good feet and I have kept him barefoot. He has some hoof boots for his fronts if you have particularly stoney ground / gravel then I put these on.
Vet: Red is up to date with vaccinations, worming, dentist and is a good doer. The only time I’ve had the vet (other than vaccs) is to treat some sarcoids that came up after he arrived from Ireland as a 3 year old. He had two small sarcoids on the underside of his tummy, they didn’t rub or interfere with anything but I decided to have them lasered so they were gone. No further problems or issues since.

Personality: Red is a typical inquisitive young Irish Draught with a gentle personality. He will thrive in a one to one home, bonding with his new person. Everyone who meets him loves him and he will be leaving behind quite a fan club. Generally he is very calm but of course he has his young horse moments and I want to be confident that his new person can handle these.

Type of Home: I am looking for a kind, knowledgeable new owner for Red who has experience of bringing on a young horse. He needs someone confident but not fierce – ideally someone who also has some horsemanship experience. The basics are there and now he needs to get out and see the world. He would be happy being a happy hacker, family horse or riding club type. He likes company but he’s not a clingytype. I am not too proud to admit that my health issues have caused me to loose confidence with horses and I am not able to give a young horse the reassurance and guidance they need. It would bring me so much joy to see Red thriving and loved in a knowledgeable home. I would love to keep in contact as he is very special to me.

As mentioned, as it stands I am selling him from the field so please don’t expect to come and ride him. Of course you are more than welcome to come and meet and spend time with him. For this reason I may be open to LWVTB depending on circumstances. Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions no matter how small I am happy to answer.

Meet Ruby. A 13yr old 15.2h Welsh D. The least Marish mare you can get, up to date with vaccinations, farrier, dentist, worming, chiropractor and physio and will stand perfectly to be clipped etc. Ruby is currently living out with 3 mares but has shared fields with geldings and even been in a paddock by herself and really isn’t bothered. You’ll normally find her happily off by herself whoever she shares the field with. She will happily stable at night with no vices. She is perfect to handle, load and travel and has been in a variety of trailers and lorry’s with no problems. She can sometimes play games to be caught, so I keep a field safe head collar on her and haven’t had a problem.

Ruby is a typical section D in that she can be spooky and sharp, she takes her confidence from her owner. She needs an owner who is confident but gentle and sympathetic to her spookiness. She’s never kicked, bucked or reared etc. She’s brilliant to hack in company and is regularly hacked by herself - she loves new routes and never naps or creates if she thinks you should be going a certain way. She isn’t fazed by any traffic, a tractor towing a combine harvester flanked by motorbikes - no problems but will jump a mile at a pheasant in a hedgerow!! She loves jumping and is super quick and careful with her feet. Never touches a pole and super speedy for jump offs. She moves beautifully in the school and is really responsive. We’ve been to some local dressage and jumping shows and she’s scored well every time. I think she would really excel in the showing world too if that’s your thing. We have done stay away camps, day clinics, fun rides and she’s always been a pleasure to take.

Ruby is primarily ridden by my 14yr old daughter and a friend rides her most weeks too. As long as you are relaxed and confident to hold her hand when she’s not sure, she will do anything for you. As much as she is very loved and was a dream horse for us, unfortunately we just don’t have the time for her anymore. My daughter has lost interest and Ruby is too young and “good” to have as a field pet so this is a really reluctant sale, for this reason I am selling everything horsey and she is sold with her saddle/bridle and rugs.

I work full time and really don’t have the time for joy riders so please only enquire if you are genuinely interested in offering Ruby a 5*. She’s an absolutely beautiful mare and deserves to have the best home.

Clive is an absolutely delightful horse to have about. Although only recently broken in, this horse will literally do everything with a smile on his face. Trying his hardest to please his rider.

Clive is super in all traffic, he hacks alone or in company. On the busiest of roads or through the fields. He will go up the gallop on his own or in company. He has seen coloured and hunter type fences and is not at all spooky. He has three nice paces, going in an outline and a big careful jump.

Although green, he really would make the nicest all rounder for someone wanting a proper horse, or a superstar hunter as I have no doubt he would cross all kind of country. He is level, polite and snaffle mouthed, never pulling you. He will be the sort of horse that with a few more miles on his clock you'd be able to put your novice husband on to go hunting for the day.

I've also no doubt he would be very striking in the show ring.

He is good to box, shoe and clip with no vices. He has a recent clean vetting certificate when he came over from Ireland.

Seen on sales livery in Stow on the wold.

Boherlody badger (Badger) is a cracking 4 yo 15,1 cob with 7 Inches of bone.

Badger has been nothing but a joy to produce, he has done a little of everything, SJ, XC (including drains) and done a few half days hunting with the Tipperarys including the Opening meet, where he stood like a lamb, very mannerly with other horses and jumped everything put in front of him, Including walls, drains etc, and was happy after his time to come away from the group to head home alone all while being ridden by a child.

He has good basic flat work, hes easy off the leg, but obviously being 4 still has a little more work to be fully 'polished' but had a good start with a pro rider.

Badger is exceptionally quiet to ride never spooky, very happy to go out in company or alone, ride in the field hes never nappy, and certainly wouldn’t throw a buck or a rear.

He was excellent to clip and load, stood for the farrier........

I can not recommend this fella enough to a mother/daughter, show home, hunting he's very versatile and would suit all home types including a nervous rider.

He is a 1 in a million and a sad sale but i have a genuine reason to sell this fabulous boy, and happy to be contacted to discuss more.

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Stunning quality super smart cob mare with the most wonderful quiet temperament

  • She has the dream temperament, she is so easy in every way and extremely kind

Rain is a super smart 151h, 7 year old black Irish cob mare. Offered for sale on behalf of her owner.

Rain is a lovely quality stamp, being a nice sporty light weight cob who is athletic but still has a leg in each corner. She is a very striking being a black beauty with a very eye catching white blaze, 2 white socks and a white splash on her belly. She definitely catches the eye where ever she goes with her stunning looks combined with her kind eye. She has excellent conformation, clean limbs, straight movement and is blemish free. She passed a 5 stage vetting in August and has been very healthy and sound since. She has the most superb temperament and is a real pet, she will certainly make someone a best friend.

Rain is excellent to hack alone and in company. She is rock solid on the roads with all traffic including lorries, tractors and motor bikes. She is often used as a lead horse to escort green horses out safely. She is very sane and sensible in open spaces and loves hacking around the woods, around farmers fields and along river banks. She is a responsive forward going ride so doesn't need much leg. She is snaffle mouthed and doesn't get strong. She likes a soft quiet hand and wouldn't like being pulled hard in the mouth. She would happily suit a competent novice rider for hacking, she's a very straight forward hack you can just sit there and enjoy the ride whilst feeling very safe. She isn't the spooky type and is very confident in her own skin and will happily pass everything she meets. She has done lots of fun rides which she really loves doing and she has also been on horse holidays in her previous home where she enjoyed exploring new country side each day. She has also hunted 2 seasons in Ireland with a teenage girl and was brilliantly well behaved, she stood rock solid at the meet and jumped ditches, walls and hedges in the field. I think she would excel as a pleasure horse to enjoy lots of hacking, fun rides, beach trips and hunting with. She would also be a brilliant endurance horse as she has plenty of stamina and is light on her feet.

Rain has done a little bit of arena work but not loads as her owners have all been very much happy hackers. She has 3 good paces and has basic schooling established. She is a forward going responsive ride in the school and appreciates a nice quiet rider. She is not suitable for a novice rider in the school due to her being a responsive/ forward ride and still needing further education in the school. Having said that she is very safe and has no ridden vices. You can ride her every day or once a month and she will come out the same. She doesn't get fresh or silly. She is starting to learn to work into the contact but this is still a work in progress so she does require a bit more brining on in this respect. She is also starting to work in a lovely rhythm, she just rushes a little if she gets a little unbalanced. She just needs a bit more producing and she will be super as she has lots of potential and looks a picture when everything comes together.

Rain has done some show jumping in her previous home in Ireland with a teenage girl where she proved very straight forward and genuine. She isn't a world beater but she certainly has a go and has jumped around 70/80cm. She is nice and confident and bold into the jumps. She has done some pole work clinics with her current owner which she enjoys . She loves xc and has done more of this than sj. Her current owner has taken her xc schooling where she was a super star. She is very straight forward to ride xc, she knows her job well and jumps everything asked of her including ditches. She also loves going through the water. She has done some hunter trails in Ireland with her previous owner. She would be very suitable for someone that wants to have some fun doing some xc, pole work clinics and low level jumping alongside hacking.

Rain has a temperament in a million. She is a complete dream on the ground. She is the friendliest and easiest horse that I have ever had. She can literally be handled by anyone including some children, the elderly and non-horsey people. She is extremely well mannered and polite to be around, you can groom her and tack her up with her stable door left wide open and she will just stand there. She loves people and attention and is very patient and kind with everyone she meets, she would make the most amazing therapy horse. She forms a strong bond with her owner and puts a smile on your face every day. She is always good to catch and leads in very gently. She is perfect to shoe, loves to be clipped, great to bath, super to load- you can load her single handed. She is great to take out and rides the same in new places as she does at home. She lives in or out and mixes well with other horses or turns out individually next to others. She is currently out at night sharing afield with a gelding and comes in during the day. She is very submissive in the field and would be bottom of the pecking order, the gelding bosses her around and she just takes it bless her. She is not at all mareish. She really is a dream to look after on the ground and everyone falls in love with her! She is a real yard favourite and will be greatly missed. Rain must go to a knowledgeable 5*star home. I would like her to go to a rider who can enjoy hours of hacking/ pleasure rides with her and generally have fun with her. She would equally suit a home to do some low level alround riding club or a hunting home. I also feel she would thrive in a natural horsemanship home as she loves doing ground work too.

Videos available, based in Ramsey, Cambs, £9,950, please call Katherine on 07460820294.

Irish Draught gelding with excellent breeding through Class 1 lines. Would make a lovely show/working hunter prospect, but would equally be an great low-mid level all rounder.

Has a low price tag due to medical history, had kissing spine surgery 15 months ago. Has been rehabbed and professionally rebacked, riding away since July of this year.

He is lovely and light in the mouth, is forward and responsive to the leg, and has a lovely arm-chair canter. Due to his history he is still green and can be nervous under saddle, he does take confidence from his rider, so no novices please.

On the ground he is a very loving horse with excellent ground manners. He is good to do in all ways. Loads on the trailer first time and is happy to stand by the trailer all day at shows.

I have multiple videos of him being ridden so please Whatsapp for videos.

Safe Steady Old Fashioned Allrounder

Ref #: 391608

  • Hunted a full day with the Surrey union opening meet jumping the biggest hedges and rails
  • Leg at each corner type, a real steady polite ride and an ideal weight carrier
  • Very quality with nice flat work and flying changes

Now heres a type very hard to find, a mare with a heart of gold & a genuine straightforward ride that only aims to please! Real old fashioned type, lovely big square front like a traditional working hunter! Super length of neck, enough bone to be a weight carrier but still quality with enough blood. Her heart definitely matches her size, quickly becoming the yard favourite!

In a short space of time she has given us a lot of fun, hunting with the Surrey union at their recent opening meet where she jumped some huge hedges and flew over rails, ditches etc! Her flat work is really coming on and already established her flying changes and riding in a beautiful soft shape with very correct and expressive paces so she certainly wouldn’t look out of place in the dressage or showing arena!

She is jumping confidently round courses of 1metre at home, never spooky or looks at fillers and always wants to get the other side in one piece, happy to help her riders out on bad strides and never over jumps always economical in her shape.

Cross country she was super and jumped some of the advanced fences down at Hickstead, flew through the water complex and tackled some difficult obstacles with absolute ease so she is going to make someone an ideal low level allround dream horse! A 5* home is a must
