- Belgian Warmblood
- Liver chestnut
- Gelding
- 5 years
- 17 hands
- DJD in R fetlock so looking for companion or low level all rounder home
- Can be left alone in field or stable- as long as he has hay/grass, he's not bothered about friends!
- Stunning, loveable puppy dog personality
5yo Belgium Warmblood gelding with all the chrome, standing at 17hh on a stick, but is more of a fine build so does not feel huge to ride. Pink Belgium passport - breeding fully recorded.
Absolutely puppy dog on the ground - very affectionate and nosy but does much prefer women - has always been more wary of men although lovely with my partner once he got to know him. No vices.
Good for farrier apart from the hot shoeing phase where he is not a fan of the smoke (doesn't do anything apart from tense up, so I just hold him for this part). Does not kick etc.
Good to clip, lunge, load etc
Has some top SJing breeding and was imported from Belgian and bought by myself as a 3yo. Backed when he was a 4yo by myself and did mostly hacking, then was turned away for a while, and came into work properly at the start of the year.
Sadly this has been short lived as he has been diagnosed with DJD in his right fetlock so he will not make the high performance showjumper that I had intended. His fetlock has been medicated and he has had time off and the appropriate rehab, and has since been left whilst I got to terms with his diagnosis
So now I am looking for either 1) A companion home for him - he can be turned out with or without other horses, same with in the stable; as long as he has some hay/grass, his belly is far more important to him than where his friends are!
Or 2) a low level riding horse / happy hacker - However keep in mind he is a large and young sports horse so would not be suitable for a novice. Was always good to hack - had been in open fields, main roads, passed double decker buses, tractors etc, and never battered an eyelid, however since moving yards a few months ago, there is no hacking whatsoever so he had not hacked since - I do have hundreds of videos of him hacking all over the place. Beautiful flashy mover so perhaps would make a decent dressage horse?
Not currently in work so sold from field - I'm more than happy to chuck some tack on and get on him if someone wanted to see that he is safe to get on and lightly walk/trot about but I'm not looking to allow ridden viewings as I don't really want him pulled from the field at random intervals and have strangers get on him and hammer him when he is not currently fit
Does have a couple of warts on his sheath that have never bothered him or changed
Up to date with vaccinations, worming, physio, chiropractor
Not for sale to a dealer or anyone who would look to get him in work and show him off for a quick profit without disclosing his problem
Not looking to answer millions of silly questions about his suitability or longevity of being a ridden horse - he is priced to allow for a degree of "buyer beware" regarding his longevity to be ridden - I simply don't know the answer but I do know he doesn't need a home where he will be hammered under saddle
If interested, please message with the type of home you are offering and your experience and I will get back to you if I think you are suitable
