DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Much loved Zipporah. Well bred TB x Cob, bay mare. 14hh. 18 years . Fit and well.

Homebred from West Kington Stud where she spent 16 years before coming to us. Professionally produced and given a start to numerous children at pony club, local competitions etc. Been with us for just over 2 years, Zippy has taught my daughter how to ride a forward going pony with a powerful jump. My daughter now wants to compete at a higher level and is asking more of Zippy than she wants to do.

Zippy is comfortable popping round 60 competitively and placed first last weekend in local competition, a fast, bold round. Enjoyed the chase me charlie at Badminton Show in August, going out above 90. Does jump well in training clinics (70/80) and is very clever with her footwork.

Done all things pony club, qualified for regionals in pc dressage this year and could improve further with a rider focussed on this discipline, believe she could do well.

Fit and well. Loves fuss and attention, very sweet nature.

Good to hack, shoe, box, clip, no vices

Not a first pony and not suitable for hunting, as gets extremely excited with anything hunting related.

Seeking kind and knowledgeable long term home, loves fuss and attention. This is the most important factor, and we will wish to visit new home. Love Zippy lots, she is too good to stand in the field, and we want to find her the right new rider/ family to form a great partnership for all to enjoy.

Lots of photos and videos to share. Very recent photos below.

Price includes some tack and rugs.

Newoak Skyfall, 13yrs grey mare, part bred Dartmoor.Quality competition pony / pony club pony/ showing pony, suitable for and proven in lots of areas. Sky has successfully competed as a Show Hunter Pony both as a Lead Rein and as a 12hh Hunter Pony being highly placed at HOYS.

She came to us to do dressage with my dressage obsessed grandson, they won the PC area 15 points award for 2024 quite a feat for Sky's first year doing dressage and a 9 yr old boy. During her time with us my grandson progressed and took a liking to jumping. Sky took to jumping as well and she has now been out and competed in mini SJ, WHP classes and has been XC .

Sky has been to numerous P C rallies and P C camp. She is safe in open spaces and hacks out alone or in company. Turns out happily with other ponies. Not "mareish ".

Good in all ways, Clipping, farrier, Traffic, loading ( lorry or trailer), easy to catch, can be led and handled by children. Safe and sensible on the lead rein she has taken a friends 3 yr old granddaughter on many hacks around the village .

Sadly she is now outgrown and due to jockeys injury she is now at a very reputable sales livery yard close to us. Where she is being ridden by a confident 6 yr old.

Home of major importance as we have the next size up pony coming to us in the early spring.

Not a First Year First Ridden but a safe quality pony suitable for many disciplines for a child wanting to progress and compete.

Price is negotiable and we would consider a Lease with a view to buy for the right child. Well worth a look , and PC instructors willing to recommend.

Sky has been seen to rub occasionally , mainly on her shoulder, does not affect her mane or tail. She wears a rug so that this does not become a problem.

All tack and loads of rugs come with her.

Can be seen and tried with Bobbie- Jo Watt - Location TA5 2BA tel 07412500134 or Owner Liz 077667326

Meet Mufasa, a friendly cob gelding who is looking for his new home as a project pony. For such a young cob, Mufasa has a fantastic calm temperament and is super easy to handle. He does still need some extra training with his leg handling due to him being a little unbalanced, however he is progressing extremely well with this.

Mufasa is currently living out 24/7 on restricted grazing. He would suit a home where he can continue to have his grazing monitored so that he stays in good shape.

Mufasa has a bright future ahead as a ridden or driven pony once he’s fully matured. At just two years old, he’s still very young, so for now he’s looking for an experienced and knowledgeable home that can continue his groundwork, allow him time to grow, and prepare him for a ridden career in the future.

Can you offer Mufasa a loving home?

Please adopt Mufasa

Meet Finn, a handsome young chap who is looking for his new home as a project pony or driving prospect, once he turns 4. Finn would suit a home where he can mature and grow in his own time with other young pony friends.

Finn is currently living out 24/7 on restricted grazing in a herd of geldings. He is a good doer so will need to continue to be restricted in his new home to keep him in shape.
