Rupert is a rising 5 year old, pure breed, Black, Irish draught gelding. Standing at around 17hh.
This is a very difficult sale of a truly one-in-a-million horse. Although we run a hunt hireling business, I do not want him to go down that route; he is simply too special, and I no longer need another horse in work. He deserves a one-to-one home where he will be someone’s priority.
I purchased his dam in foal with him in Ireland, and we have overseen every stage of his upbringing. He has been carefully raised, backed slowly and correctly at home, and produced with his long-term future in mind.
He has:
• Hunted lightly this season – an exceptional confidence-giver, never silly, and will jump whatever he is presented with. He has never lifted a leg, stands politely at the meet, stands on point, and will peel off and go home alone without any fuss. He also stands quietly on the lorry.
• Cross-country schooled extensively, seeing a wide variety of fences including ditches, timber, tyres, hedges, and combinations. He jumps in and out of water confidently and remains bold, genuine, and honest.
• Been on riding holidays, where he has proven extremely settled in new environments — relaxed, mannerly, and straightforward; he simply puts his head down and eats.
• A soft mouth, natural balance, and is responsive and straightforward to ride.
• Correct, expressive movement, making him an excellent grassroots eventing prospect with ample potential to progress.
• A natural enjoyment of the hunting field.
At home he is uncomplicated, mannerly, and has no stable vices. He is kind, willing, and has been a joy to produce. This decision has not been made lightly; he deserves a home where he can continue his education and fulfil his considerable potential.
He is a lovely young horse with the foundation, temperament, and ability to go far in the right hands.
