Because of his calm temperament this pony would make an ideal adult/ child share for ridden classes. This pony’s way of going and outline over a jump has helped him win Working Hunter Championships. Winning the Working Hunter championship in Clifden as a 6 year old in 2023 the centenary year of the Connemara Pony Breeders Society remains high in our memory. Tom is forward to a fence and never says no, he has jumped fillers and trays and shows tremendous scope and makes the correct shape - neat in front and loose behind. Tom has been to UA SJ competitions in Ireland and training shows/arena hires over here jumping 1m, he’s currently schooling around 1.10/20 at home with us with plenty of scope for more. Tom has been XC schooling and to hunter trials jumping steps, ditches, water and everything in between. He hunted in Ireland with the Maynooth and Leitham harriers where he was well behaved and bold and attended pleasure rides.
Tom hacks both alone and in company and is excellent in traffic. He’s good in open spaces, often going for group canters along the river bank and stubble fields.

Tom is a lovely boy on the ground, he loves people and is very easy and good to do in all ways. Good to bath, shoe, clip, plait, turnout/catch, load & travel. He lives in or out and is happy be turned out next to or in with other horses, has mixed with mares and geldings.

Tom has been ridden by man and lady riders, passed a 5 stage vetting a few weeks ago and is sadly for sale as is too green for our client. He is a big, powerful horse who is not the finished article he can have his green wobbly moments, never nasty, but still needs to continue his education as he matures and strengthens within himself.

We cannot emphasise enough the quality this horse possesses, he’d excel immensely in the show ring as a HW working hunter or HW hunter as he combines athleticism, bravery, scope and temperament. We bought Striker to go into a riding school of which we didn’t go ahead with. Since being with us he has built the confidence of several riders after they lost it all with other rather sharp horses.

Striker is an honest and kind horse and he would be great as a 2nd horse particularly for a rider looking to do a bit of everything. He will take you from poles on the ground to jumping round courses, or if you prefer to move into X-Country without the fear of a horse taking off and being too strong- he’s great for that too.

He has been to X-Country, fun rides and clinics. He enjoys hacking in open spaces across farmland. He is bomb proof in traffic too. Hacked at least once a week on roads. He is competing at home round 70/80cm and will easily jump 90cm. He will also drop down to trotting happily over cross poles.

Striker is a standard bred but has a good trot and canter. His transitions have improved a lot. He is not a kick a long but is sane and you will learn to ride very well with him and he is never sharp or silly.

He will jump anything at X-Country whether its brushes, barrels- anything! Fillers and water trays do not phase him and he is not a spooky horse. He is great through water and over ditches. He will go in an outline in all three paces. He can perform a nice dressage test.

He isn't the most confident pony in the stable and can be shy until he gets to know you. He loves a fuss.

Super easy to load, travel, bath, groom and clip, easy for dental and vet. We hold him for the farrier or give him a haynet as he is a fidget.

Turned out individually, he enjoys being out but easily lives in too.

Striker makes people feel very comfortable when hacking across open farmland or on the road. He babysits the young sharp horses too. It’s not easy to find confidence building horses and we will be honestly sad to see him go. Please feel free to call me to discuss.
