DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

  • A TRUE ALLROUND CHILD'S PONY

Our little BLUE was bought as a games and allround pony for our incredibly nervous daughter. She has been the perfect match for us for the last two years.

She is a fabulous mounted games team pony and knows her job inside out, competing in both senior and junior teams.
Competed at:
- National and Regional Mounted Games Study days
- The Warwickshire, Enfield Chase and Area 8 Friendly Mounted Games Events
- The Suffolk Show (part of the mounted games display team
- The Norfolk Show (part of the mounted games display team

- Pony Club Mounted Games Zone Finals (2024 & 2025)
- Pony Club National Championships (mounted games 2024 & 2025 and Polocross 2025)
- STRUK Rule the World 2025

She turned her hoof to polocrosse this year, competing at the PC National Championships at Offchurch, where she excelled herself.

She loves to jump and is very happy popping round a course of show jumps or cross country fences (40/50cm).

Has competed at both unaffiliated show jumping and dressage events

Has attended pony club camp and multiple pony club rallies.

Is great to hack and loves a canter in the stubble.
She does NOT like heavy traffic so not suitable for hacking on busy roads.

Is super easy to keep, lives in or out, is bare foot and up to date with teeth and vaccinations.

5* home required for this little lady.
I have been putting this off for far too long, I know there will be tears in the house but my daughter’s feet feet are literally touching the ground !

  • Excellent to handle for even the smallest of child, perfect tiny tots pony.

FYFR first ridden/lead rein pony.

11hh, Reg’d Welsh A, gelding, 16 years old.

Excellent to handle by even the smallest of children, will stand tied up whilst my youngest daughter brushes his hooves!

Excellent in traffic, never strong or silly, snaffle mouth, definitely (absolutely!) a more woah than go type off the lead rein, loves to plod along. Leads perfectly on foot or from another horse, we lead him from our 16.2hh warm blood mare, somehow he manages to keep up!

In a previous home before we bought him he'd been used for pony club rallies/camp, showing etc. We've used him for mostly hacking, some local showing and fun rides.
He's only had 3 previous homes and I know each one, all of them follow his progress and I think that says a lot about him as pony.

We have owned Blaze for 4 fantastic years, he has bought our daughter on from a nervous/novice 5 year old who was on the lead rein to a confident, happy rider who has progressed to her 2nd pony.

He is the type of pony that doesn't mess around if his little jockey puts in a kick at the wrong time or has washing line reins, he doesn't take advantage if they can't quite get the aids right or if they haven't yet got full balance in trot and bounce along, the perfect pony to learn on.
My youngest has ridden him on and off since she was 2 years old, a true family pony.

We have absolutely adored our time with him, we thought we'd be able to give him a home for life but sadly my youngest daughter isn't interested enough and he's being wasted sat in the field as an ornament, I know how hard good ponies are to find, he's a true gem.

He's shod on the front, excellent in every way, comes to call.

He does have cushings and EMS which both are currently medicated for, he is currently stable but I have priced him fairly for the fact that he requires medication and special care, that said he is easy to manage with a muzzle on turned out and then soaked hay at night.

He is looking for an easy going home, would be perfect for a little tot wanting to plod around.

Heartbreaking sale of our wonderful little Blaze so please only apply if you can offer him an amazing home.

Based Devon/Cornwall border.

£1500 no offers, will come with his full wardrobe, quality fitted leather tack which includes a Kent and master saddle.

This is an advert we have been putting off for so long, but he is now hopelessly outgrown and needs to go and make another family happy.

He has had an amazing and successful career to date, Inhand and Ridden, supremes, championships and has literally covered my daughters bedroom walls with rosettes, trophies and sashes.

He is extremely multi talented and has shown Inhand, Opens, LR, FR, SHP, qualifying for many championships, he won M&M LR and placed in FR at Stars 2019 and being placed at HOYs in the Opens with his previous owners. He can equally be produced and Home produced.

We bought him 9 years ago for my then 4 year old for M&M LR and he has literally been her best friend, learning her up/downs on him, cantering, coming off lead, jumping, dressage, XC and hacking.

He hasn’t been showing for a few years, but I am sure he would love to go back to it, strutting his stuff in the ring like the showman he is, or equally be a little persons best friend.

He is by Nantdywyll Telor out of Colne Tatiana and his full siblings include Colne Tulip, Colne Turbo, Colne Taboo.

Please only message if you are genuinely interested as this is an extremely hard sale for us as a family. No price kickers or video collectors.

Based in Kent, Rhyd Ifan Guinness (Guinness) is a 18 year old Irish sportspony.. we've had Guinness for nearly three years now and very sad to sell him as we no longer have enough time for him.

Guinness mainly enjoys jumping and will very confidently jump around a 80cm course with scope to go higher, he also enjoys cross country and will happily hack alone or in company.

Despite being 18, Guinness is in very good shape and definitely has a good few years of competing left in him.

Guinness is good with the farrier, good to clip, good for vet, etc.

Guinness is happy to be turned out alone or in company (both mares and geldings), and Guinness needs turnout all year round.

Guinness is up for anything and is a plug and play horse when competing; you put him in the arena and he knows exactly what his job is. And he truly is a once in a lifetime pony, and we are gutted to sell him.

Guinness is not a novice ride and needs a confident teenager. Don’t be fooled by his age! He’s a gem!

Happy to share videos etc etc

Tentatively thinking about letting our Monkey go to pastures new.

He has been an amazing pony for us for the past five years, and is very well known on the local circuit.

Isla and him had the most amazing bond and they won so many classes showjumping and WHP , he is so scopey for a small pony, and we have not found any filler in the country that he has even looked at , let alone spooked at.

He is brave, bold and an off the leg ride, whilst not being strong, he is however not called Monkey for no reason and will not tolerate wet wipes, bad riding or wimps, he loves a brave competitive jockey that will throw him round the jump off turns and dare him off any line, (and Isla did jump him off some very questionable lines!) he is also fab cross country and will jump anything.
Currently out hunting every week and loving it.

Monkey does have his quirks , which we love him for and he wouldn’t be monkey without them, but when you get in the ring , he will give you 110% and more every time, I have so many videos and pictures,

We wanted to keep him for my son who loves riding him, and has also competed him , but realistically he hasn’t got the time for him, the motocross just takes up too much of his time and Monkey has so much to give another jockey.

Part exchange welcome Transport available nationwide .

Maisey was only backed at 11yrs old and so has very low miles and still looks incredible. She has plenty more years in her teaching lucky children.

We have owned Maisey for 3 years now. We bought her for our 4yr old son who has done everything on her since -PC camp x3, rallies, Showing, mounted games, SJ Beach holidays and endless hacking.

Maisey is a perfect lead rein pony. She trots or canters when you run and stops when you stop. She doesn’t nibble or annoy the handler and will stand all day. Never bitten, kicked or pulled a face. She will be pampered all day long. She will also take a child off the lead, jumping a small 30cm course of showjumps happily.

Maisey will happily be led off another horse and I have cantered down a huge beach leading my 5yr old on her. She is totally trustworthy. Not one to get fizzy when others canter off away from her. She can have weeks off and will be exactly the same when you get back on.

Maisey is the lowest maintenance pony. She is bare foot, will live in or out, and lives on fresh air. She has no veterinary history and never had lami.

Homes will be vetted and we would love another experienced pony club home for this gem of a pony. We are still in contact with her 3 previous owners which is credit to her nature .

He is patient, dependable, and full of ability. He is just as happy giving confidence to a new rider on the lead rein as he is taking a keen little jockey out to compete. He has a wealth of experience across Pony Club rallies, one-day events, and competitions.

Experienced in mounted games, eventing, show jumping, dressage, and showing
Lovely, balanced dressage test every time
Bold and genuine round both show jumping and cross-country
Happy jumping from 30cm up to 70cm

Always well-behaved away from home – travels and settles brilliantly

Kind, gentle nature – brilliant with both children and adults
Hacks alone or in company, leads or follows, on or off the lead rope
Good in traffic and unfazed by new situations
Easy to handle in the stable or field; can be stabled alone without stress
Loads and travels well
Good for the farrier (front shod)
Up-to-date with teeth, vaccinations, and worm counts
Happy living in or out

Price includes full tack, and is at this level due to his age, but Lancer still has so much to give!

Lease would also considered, as my daughter is sadly outgrowing him and really feel he deserves a new home, as still so much to offer, but now only hacks out and needs to be brought back into work slowly. This and his age reflect the price.

I am sadly having to say good bye to what I can only call my first heart horse. Unfortunately I have out grown him and am looking for a loving family for him to go to. I have owned this gorgeous boy for six years- we got him when I was seven and I’m now thirteen. This superstar is a real confidence giver and has taken me so far. He is a loving pony through and through with his willing attitude and affection towards anyone who steps foot in his stable. Teddy also has great manners and an awesome personality, it is safe to say he knows his job!

In the time I have had with him he has taken me from going over poles on the ground in a slow walk to now comfortably jumping 80cm courses. He is most definitely most comfortable at the 80cm mark but can be pushed to a meter quite happily which I have tended to do at home rather than out competing.
He is a safe ride out on the XC course with a cruising canter which is usually right on the optimum time.
In dressage he demonstrates amazing paces with a soft head carriage, he can put in a lovely dressage test and usually comes home with rosettes.

He has done a lot during our time with him ranging from beach rides, cross country, eventing, hacking, showing, fancy dress and pony club mounted games. You can never say a pony is totally bombproof but this one has never batted an eyelid with anything that has crossed his path including people in inflatable cow suits!

He is easy for the farrier, dentist, vets and to clip, with no vices or problems. I can load him myself on the trailer and he never turns a hair at staying away at shows or events.

Along our journey we have found out, whilst you would never know to look at him, that Teddy has EMS - equine metabolic syndrome. However it has been easy to manage by simply limiting his amounts of grass with strip grazing and soaked hay. We test twice a year for insulin levels out of personal preference and we have maintained his insulin within acceptable ranges. Full history of his bloods can be given at time of viewing. He has never suffered any complications whatsoever including laminitis.

We will miss this gorgeous boy so much and want him to go to the right home that will love him as much as we have, so he can do what he does best and teach another little person to ride while having fun. He is versatile enough to be a great lead rein pony, first ridden or a second pony.

The price will include one cool pony, one set of tack, rugs, a saddle pad and a head collar.
