Legend is a stunning 16.3hh, 6-year-old grey gelding available for rehoming through no fault of his own.

A real head-turner, Legend has beautiful paces and has been produced slowly, correctly and with his future in mind. He has enjoyed a varied education, including hacking, show jumping, cross-country schooling, eventing, working hunter and showing, although he particularly excels at dressage regularly scoring in the 70’s at competitions. He is proving to be a brave jumper, unfazed by a fillers etc - his jumping education has been taken intentionally slowly to focus on building his confidence and technique which is improving all the time.

Legend has achieved two podium finishes at the ROR Regional Championships and has qualified for the ROR National Championships at Aintree.

He is a kind, sweet-natured horse with a lovely temperament and genuinely has not got a nasty bone in his body. He is, however, not a horse for a novice and will need a confident, sympathetic rider who understands him and can provide the reassurance he sometimes requires.

Legend can have the occasional spook and is not yet 100% confident around heavy traffic, although this is improving all the time. He responds well to reassurance from his rider and continues to gain confidence with experience. He has been seen to crib from time to time.

He is excellent to shoe, box, clip and travel.

Legend will be competing at the ROR National Championships at Aintree (18th-23rd August), where he can be seen competing on the Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

PEDIGREE & BLOODLINES

Legend is exceptionally well bred, carrying some of the most influential bloodlines in modern Thoroughbred racing.

Australia is by the legendary Galileo out of the outstanding racemare Ouija Board, a multiple Group 1 winner and European Horse of the Year. Australia himself was a Classic-winning racehorse, winning the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby and Juddmonte International. His pedigree combines two exceptional families through Galileo and Ouija Board.

Galileo, Legend’s grandsire, is one of the most influential stallions of the modern Thoroughbred. He was himself a winner of the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and went on to become one of the most successful sires in Thoroughbred history. He was by the legendary Sadler’s Wells out of Urban Sea.

Sadler’s Wells, Legend’s great-grandsire, was one of the defining stallions of the modern Thoroughbred and became a hugely influential sire throughout Europe, producing more than 130 Group 1/Grade 1 winners.

Legend therefore carries a highly distinguished pedigree, combining the Australia, Galileo and Sadler’s Wells bloodlines with an exceptional dam line through Ouija Board.

A VERY SPECIAL HORSE

Legend is a very special horse and this is an exceptionally sad sale.

He has been given a varied and correct education and has already demonstrated genuine ability and success in the dressage arena and ROR competition. He is the type of horse who could continue to progress with the right partnership and has the quality, movement and presence to be a serious prospect for someone looking for an established ex-racehorse with competition experience.

He will only be rehomed to a suitable and experienced home where the right partnership can be found. Homes will be carefully vetted, and his welfare and future will be the priority.

Lunar is a quality 5-year-old gelding, recently retired from racing and now ready to begin his next chapter.

He is a straightforward, uncomplicated horse who is very easy to ride and has a lovely attitude. He is a good mover with good conformation and has shown himself to be a talented and willing jumper.

Lunar hacks happily both alone and in company and is sensible, enjoyable and uncomplicated to ride. He is an excellent prospect for someone looking for a versatile young horse to produce and develop into a new career.

PEDIGREE & BLOODLINES

Lunar is particularly well bred and carries some highly respected European Thoroughbred bloodlines.

His sire, Sea Moon, was a high-class racehorse bred by Juddmonte Farms. He won the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes, Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot and Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes, as well as finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf and third in the St Leger.

Sea Moon is by Beat Hollow, a son of the legendary Sadler’s Wells. Beat Hollow was a top-class international racehorse and a four-time Group/Grade 1 winner, with victories including the Grand Prix de Paris and Arlington Million.

This represents a strong and proven European Thoroughbred pedigree, combining quality racing performance with bloodlines that are also highly valued for producing athletic, versatile horses.

15h 5yo grey Class 1 Connemara gelding by I love you melody - one of the most highly desired bloodlines of Connemaras with wonderful, kind and willing temperaments as well as huge talent for competitions.

He was bought to produce and sell and has been an easy horse to do and ride, he has 3 easy rhythmical paces with the comfiest canter, combined with a soft mouth. He has since competed at Intro and Prelim dressage with scores up to 67% and has potential to go up the levels.

Having done a bit hunting and jumping in Ireland, he came over to the UK and has continued his education. He has a good range of experience with us, having been out to arena hires, clear rounds, and camps and both pole and grid work clinics. He has been good when having lessons on his own or in groups and does not hang towards the other horses.

Competition wise he has jumping up to 80cm at shows and up to 90cm in training and some 1/1.05m at the end of grid showing lots of scope but remains genuine on a wrong stride. He makes a super space over a jump and keeps a lovely forward rhythm. He is good with all sorts of fillers and simulated XC fences.

He has been good cross country, jumped at a range of venues including after BE and Cotswold Cup events at 70/80cm. He has competed at 70cm 2 phase eventing, he shows a good gallop without getting strong and doesn’t fizz up when out cantering with other horses.

He is a kind and gentle horse to handle on the ground, yet flashy and super smart when ridden with the potential to go up the grades in any chosen discipline. Although I believe could be aimed at Badminton Grassroots, he would equally go down the Dressage or pure SJ route.

Good to shoe, box, catch. Hacks out alone and in company, good to canter in open fields. He currently lives out at night and in in the day but doesn’t like too much time stabled and has been a bit worried when left so suits a home with turn out Travelled in both a lorry and trailer. Miss Uptown Girl is established in her lateral work and flying changes. She is successfully competing at Elementary level with 212 dressage points and is working towards Medium at home.

She is a pleasure to take to competitions and stays calm and focused in busy warm-up arenas.

She has represented Ireland in the UK at the BD Home Nations and has competed at two National Championships.

She is with us on sales livery through no fault of her own. Her junior rider would now like to focus solely on dressage, while Miss Uptown Girl absolutely loves her jumping! We feel she would be ideally suited to a competitive home where she can continue to develop, particularly in eventing, as she is exceptionally brave cross country and proving to work well and consistently in all three phases.

She has A wonderful trainable attitude and loves to please her rider.

Ginger is a lovely quality Irish mare with a fantastic attitude and a wealth of experience. She is a forward-thinking, enjoyable ride who would suit a confident rider looking for a talented horse to enjoy across a variety of disciplines.

On the flat, Ginger works beautifully with three fluent paces and seamless transitions. She is a naturally forward ride and would certainly produce some lovely dressage tests in the right hands. She is not suitable for a novice rider, but for someone who enjoys a horse that goes willingly off the leg, she is great fun to ride.

Ginger is a brave, straightforward and careful showjumper. She has previously jumped up to 1.10m with her former owner and has all the attributes to continue progressing. She is honest to a fence and gives her rider plenty of confidence.

Her previous owner described her as the ultimate all-rounder, having turned her hoof to just about everything, including hunting, showjumping and general riding club activities. Unfortunately, she has proved a little too forward-going for a nervous rider, so we are now looking for a knowledgeable home where she can thrive with someone who enjoys a horse with a bit of engine. She is not sharp, silly or whizzy, she simply likes to get on with the job and can cover the ground well.

Ginger does make a respiratory noise when working. She has been fully scoped by our vet, with no clinical abnormalities found, and it is believed the noise is due to a slightly asymmetrical nostril. This does not affect her performance in any way and is reflected in her price. Veterinary report available to view.
