Manny! - Re Advertised with recent X-Rays.
This is a very hard decision, please read the ad! It would be very easy for me to write a couple of words about how amazing he is to jump but I'm going over board on the honesty because I'll only sell him to the right person that'll appreciate him, quirks n' all.
He's a bit of a Heinz horse but reckon he's Welsh x Tb or something similar. No recorded breeding.
Manny is the quietest most gentle soul you could ever wish to own, I bought him as a project in 2022 to tie me over whilst my competition horse was lame for a summer but he was quite nervous and a little sharp to ride and I felt like life owed him some consistency! So decided to keep him for the winter too, he found his calling as a hunt horse & I've whipped in off him now for 2 season, he's a 1 handed ride, fast across the country and a dobin at the meet, jumping everything in his path and patiently waiting when we've been left by everyone to shut a gate, unbelievably sure footed and floats through deep ground. I do hunt him in a Neue Schule Verbindend Universal as feel he prefers a stronger bit and less pressure than me hanging off him in a snaffle.
.
Im not selling him as a seasoned show jumper but he does have a super pop in him! Has jumped up to 1.40 single fences with me at home and 1.05 at local unaffiliated competitions. He is a busy guy to ride around a course, he will get you to each fence but you don't have much say in the striding, that said, he will literally jump from anywhere! You just have to point and stay on! Has jumped BS british novice on a day ticket
.
He's not a fan of flat schooling, he'll do it through gritted teeth but it's usually me just spending 30 minutes trying to get him to relax enough to use himself properly and in the 2 years we've not done loads as I don't feel he loves it and as a result I don't love doing it with him.
.
Hacking - he's super forward but as easy as they come, alone or in company, galloping down a beach or walking about the roads, you could go for miles, across any terrain and he'll just keep plodding along.
.
He's super easy and has manners to burn on the ground, he'd be mortified if he stood on your toe & wouldn't dare invade your space! He's great to bath and clip, load, travel, lives in or out, loves company but will go it alone when he has to.
.
Some of the not so great bits - He is easily stressed out doesn't love it when he's put un pressure or if someones being super loud around him, he never goes loopy just tense and can rear, he is very good at it, never feels of balance or dangerous, doesn't go particularly high, doesn't flail his legs about or anything just hovers with his front legs off the ground, but he gives you lots of warning that he's thinking about it and if you put your hands forward and take your legs off it'll often defuse the situation and he won't go up at all - please note this is never due to napping, he's not at all nappy! It's more say, if you're trying to do a gate off him and he doesn't understand the question and gets all flustered or you're trying to get him to leg yield and he's not sure what you want as you've got leg on and stopping him going forward... all avoidable situations tbh but feel they should be mentioned.
.
He's fine if you're just doing fronts but I do sedate him to be shod behind, he can be done without sedation and we've done it a few times but again he can just panic himself if he goes to pull away and the farrier doesn't let go because he's half way through nailing on or something, he's absolutely fine to trim though and he's desensitised to the noise and tapping when I've worked with him to try and sort it, I think it's purely a panic that he can't have his foot back.
And lastly, he has side done in his front feet, I've X-rays from this year & he does better shod in front to help reduce the concussion & help with foot balance, my vet & farrier are happy with how he goes in shoes and don't think he needs any further treatment or remedial shoeing. Happy to share his x-rays for you to show your vet/farrier for their opinion
So that's it! That's Manny in a nut shell! I love him, once you know how he ticks he's the easiest, kindest, quietest, trying little horse that just wants to jump the moon and race on beaches.
Only for sale to the right home, don't really wan't to sell him but feel he'll be more suited to a SJ/Happy hacking/Hunting home and I'm a wanna be eventer & though I've tried to convince him it can be fun - he's just not a dressage fan! So I'm just wondering if his right person is out there! Someone that'll appreciate him for exactly who he is & fall in love with his unreal backend and big doe eyes
price reflects quirks & side bone though my friends say he's too cheap, home is more important IMO
Hundreds of pictures and videos I'm happy to share after a phone call to make sure you'd be a good fit for each other! NO DEALERS please :) x
