Rio - ANCCE Registered PRE (Andalusian) 5yo Grey Gelding. Currently 15-15.1hh, expected to make 15.2.

Rio is a beautiful young PRE gelding who has been produced carefully and not rushed in his education. Rio would suit someone looking for a quality and bright horse to continue producing. He has the lovely long mane, pretty head and expressive movement associated with the breed and a fantastic, sensible and trainable brain to match.
He was imported unbroken from France in autumn 2024 and was backed last year before being turned away to mature. He returned to work 3 months ago and has taken everything in his stride. He continues to prove to be a sensible, genuine and willing young horse.
Rio has just turned 5yo, he has a lovely, trainable brain and an exceptionally good attitude towards life & work. He has all the ingredients to make a smart dressage horse, working equitation horse or quality all rounder. He is snaffle-mouthed at all times with great brakes and a soft mouth.
Out hacking, Rio is a pleasure. He hacks confidently both alone and in company and this has been our primary focus over the past few weeks. He is unfazed by heavy traffic, and is safe and sensible on both busy roads and across open countryside. He takes new situations in his stride and remains level-headed when faced with things that he has not seen before.
In the school, Rio is still green but very willing- he is genuine and eager to learn and responds well to praise. He is established in all three paces and as he continues to build strength and balance, he is learning to work into a soft contact. His frame in trot and canter is not yet consistent, but he is developing really nicely. He is demonstrating great transitions both up and down and has recently started learning some basic lateral work- he’s a very fast learner and shows a lovely attitude towards his education.
Rio has recently been introduced to jumping. He has plenty of natural scope and genuinely enjoys himself. His jumping education has not been rushed due to his age, but he is showing great potential to become a smart all-rounder in the future and has a nice attitude towards a fence without fizzing up. He trots and canters over a series of poles nicely and is becoming very clever at adjusting his stride length to the pole distance.
He turns out happily in a large mixed herd and is good to catch and handle. Rio loads and travels great,, is good for the farrier and currently barefoot with strong, healthy feet. He has good manners, understands moving away from pressure and has no stable or ridden vices. He loves having a groom and pamper and ties up quietly.
Rio is happy to be stabled but he has lived out 24/7 for the majority of his time in the UK and maintains his weight well. He did unfortunately have his tail chewed off in the field by another youngster last year. Whilst purely cosmetic and will continue to grow back, this is reflected in his price.
Rather than rushing him through the levels, Rios education has been focused on building solid foundations for someone to produce him further in any sphere. This has resulted in a kind, level headed horse who does not panic when he is unsure. Arena hires, dressage outings and further experiences for Rio are all planned across the next couple of months. Should he not find his new person prior to these outings, his price will rise accordingly as he continues to gain mileage and further his education.

Rio is on sales livery with me- unfortunately due to having a year off in the field, his vaccinations are currently not up to date but these can be restarted with me before going to his new home.
