Lovely Dartmoor Hill pony - lead rein/first/second ridden/pony club

Ref #: 411033
  • Loves hacking on and off lead rein, happily goes first or last, good with traffic
  • Much adored, easy to do, best friend pony, never sick or sorry
  • Won rosettes in lead rein gymkhana races and ridden classes, cross-pole jumping on and off lead rein
£3,200

  • Much adored, easy to do, best friend pony, never sick or sorry
  • Won rosettes in lead rein gymkhana races and ridden classes, cross-pole jumping on and off lead rein

Ruby is an eight-year-old roan bay mare Dartmoor Hill Pony, standing at approximately 120 cm. She is a genuine child’s pony – excellent on the lead rein but is also a good second/first pony. She is my granddaughter’s best friend and is much loved.

Heartbreaking sale owing to my unexpected health issues. Ideally seeking a knowledgeable home where Ruby can enjoy a range of activities with a new best friend and fulfil her promise as a fun, all-round, pony club type pony.

We have owned Ruby since August 2022, straight from her excellent breaking in by Tara Morris Equestrian. On the lead rein, Ruby carries small children with care. She responds to verbal instructions to walk, trot, whoa, and stand. In the last couple of years, she’s been ridden mainly by my eldest granddaughter as the other two have lost interest. Ruby is only ridden in the school holidays when my granddaughter comes to stay. After each six-week gap, Ruby does not need to be ridden by an adult or lunged – just a quick brush, tack on, and out we go. Ruby loves hacking and is happy to go in front or behind. I have also led her from my horse a couple of times. Ruby is very good with traffic on our local roads/lanes, including noisy farm vehicles, sometimes giving my horse a lead past some ‘monstrous’ vehicle! She is sensible on bridleway tracks and in open spaces.

Ruby has been to a few local shows, taking part successfully in leading rein ridden classes and gymkhana races. My granddaughter is learning to jump. She and Ruby have competed in a few classes on and off the lead rein. Ruby is less enthusiastic and relatively inexperienced in flat work in an arena and, given the chance, can drift towards the exit!

Ruby is a very good doer. She lives on a nearly bare paddock with hay or haylage provided at regular intervals during the day/at night. She has never had laminitis, nor has she ever been sick or sorry. She lives out generally though I tend to bring her in at night during bad weather in winter to let her dry off from the rain and to get her out of the mud. She is barefoot with fantastic feet. She is good with the farrier and dentist, and is up to date with teeth, feet and vaccines. Ruby is easy to catch, and she loads and travels well in our horsebox. My granddaughter does everything with her, such as grooming, picking up her feet, tacking up, and loading in the horsebox. She does not kick or bite. She is good with dogs.

Ruby is a pretty pony who changes colour with the seasons. She is bay roan in summer, a rich red bay in winter and nearly white with black points in the spring.

Serious enquiries only please for this very special pony.

Located in North Wales (30 minutes from Chester).
Her tack is available by negotiation.

Lovely Welsh Cross Allrounder for Loan

  • Loves hacking, fun rides and endurance
  • For loan to stay at present home

Lovely 14hh Welsh cross allrounder mare, 14yo for loan to stay at present home between Bath and Frome. A great chance for a competent friendly and commited person to have fun and enjoy this much loved little mare. Lightweight adult preferred (Approx 10st and under) Might suit somebody returning to riding or mother/daughter share. Luna is safe and sane, good to hack alone or in company and excellent in traffic and with low flying air craft.

She has looked after me, a veteran rider, very well for the last 7 years. She is a typical pony, greedy, quite sassy, and characterful and can be strong at times so not suitable for a novice. Loves hacking, fun rides and endurance. Grade 1 in her first novice competition. Moves beautifully and has competed successfully in dressage in her previous home. Good to handle in all ways.

Following an accident and surgery, I will not be riding again in the near future. But want Luna to stay here on our small farm where she is happy and an important member of our human and equine family.

No charge for livery/keep, just pay for shoes/riding expenses and share horse care. Horses mainly live out, currently on a track system. Nice company to ride with good hacking on bridleways and lanes. Fields to ride in, small indoor school currently under renovation. We have a sensible older Highland pony also, so could suit 2 friends or mother/daughter. A golden opportunity for the right person to build a partnership with this lovely pony which could become long term.

Marmite is looking for a new person. Hard to write as we love this little chap, but now outgrown and my daughter is moving onto horses for jumping but is also prioritizing mounted games

Marmite is 13.2 rising 18yo sporty heinz 57 pony, don't let his age put you off he's got plenty of years left in him!

He is an absolute jumping machine, we have had a fabulous 4 years with him doing all pony club activities, showjumping with many wins and placings, arena eventing, XC and hunting. we have even played around doing some mounted games with him at home which he's actually showing some promise but we don't need another games pony!

He's not a fan of dressage so bringing home frillies eventing probably isn't his forte! But he will school in all paces just not quite as relaxed as the judges like!

In his previous home he was a regular out hunting and loves it, its definitely his favourite pastime.
He would be best suited to a brave young rider or even a small adult and is definitely NOT a novice or nervous riders pony, he isn't without his cheekiness and a few quirks but is a proper good fun pony club and hunting pony with a big jump!

He is great to box (trailer or lorry) shoe clip etc, can be cheeky to catch when the grass is good but will come to a bucket of nuts!

Will consider short term trial to ensure a good match for pony and rider but this would be entered into after viewing and if we felt the rider and pony were likely to be well suited. Would require references and a contract in place.

Price to include, bridle, his old saddle and rugs, his Harry Dabbs ENS jump saddle is available by separate negotiation.

Near Thirsk North Yorkshire good trial facilities.

Roy as he’s known at home is a little gem of a pony. He was broken last Christmas and has quickly become the yard favourite.

Ridden by a variety of children and small adults.

He’s been flat showing, WH, SJ and arena hires. Jumped XC fences happily.

He’s got beautiful paces and a lovely jump, he could go far as a WH cradle or 122 and with time will be a super SHP or open A once he has filled his big frame.

Equally he would love a pony club home where he is loved and adored.

He’s super to handle, load, catch and gives kisses. He loves a fuss off the children and is used to the chaos that children create !

Good home wanted for this lovely pony

Professionally backed in 2024, this lovely young New Forest pony has a bright future ahead of him. He has plenty of scope, loves to jump, and would make an excellent project for someone looking to bring on a talented pony, or a future Pony Club all-rounder.

He is good to catch, clip, trim, travel and handle, with no lumps, bumps, or vices. A well-mannered pony both on the ground and under saddle. Up to date with vaccinations, teeth and farrier. Great alone or in company.

He is not suitable for a complete novice like many young ponies however he is a genuine ride with lots of potential in the right hands.

Sadly, due to having a baby and no longer having the time to keep him in work, he has been out of work for a couple months so slowly coming back and is therefore sold as unfit. His price reflects this and will increase the more I do.

A very sad sale of a much-loved pony who has been outgrown by his younger rider. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a quality young pony at a bargain price!

12h registered Welsh A, mare, 12yr old.

Pretty lead rein pony looking for her new family.

Hacks alone or in company, pops round a x-pole course, has done PC rallies, local shows, fun hunt ride, and always in the ribbons when showing.

Never strong or silly, never bucked/reared/bolt or tug for grass. The children can do most things with her by themselves, catch, load, groom, tack up etc. Can pull a face at you in the stable around food.

Barefoot and easy to keep, lives out off fresh air or come in during the day. Happy with mares or geldings. Never had laminitis or any health issues.

Can be spooky, hence more suited as a lead rein. But my children, and a lightweight adult, do ride her off lead rein. Would need more schooling in canter. Could also suit a teenager wanting something to produce for showing, in hand showing, or potential broodmare

We’ve owned her for nearly 5 years, and was in previous home since a foal so full history known.

An extremely sad sale of Solo due to being outgrown. Same home since a yearling. My daughter started riding him when she was already off the lead rein so hasn't really done much on lead rein.

He's been to 4 mini PC camps and 2 main PC camps. He's done countless rallies, SJ, XC, hacking, beach rides, fun/farm rides and young handler classes.

He loves jumping and will pop round a 70cm course. Easy to a fence, doesn't rush or pull.

Great in traffic. Lives on a busy farm so used to tractors etc. Will lead from another horse. Will go in front or behind.
He's got a loving temperament. My daughter does everything with him herself.

He's great to bath, clip, trim (always been barefoot), load (trailer or lorry), catch, stable and groom. Loves to be pampered, painted or cuddled.

He has a cheeky sec A sense of humour but never malicious.

He's not keen on mounted games and probably wouldn't cope with a really wobbly child so for this reason I wouldn't class him as a first year first ridden. Having said that, he has taught my daughter to sit quietly and he has got better with this over the years. He'll rush forward if the rider is wobbling too much. He's never bucked or reared.

He can come with tack and rugs for extra. He has a made to measure Black Country working hunter saddle.

No lami or sweatitch. Lives off fresh air.

Please no time wasters or daytrippers. No loans or leases.

Super cob for sale. Owned him since he was 4 backed and produced him myself.

For the last 6 months he’s had a 13 year old ride him and take him out competing.

Good for farrier (he’s barefoot)
Good with teeth and up to date with vaccinations
Hacks alone and with company
Has been out by himself and in herds with mare’s and geldings
Doesn’t mind being left by himself
Always scores 65% and above at dressage and goes in a nice frame when asked
Doesn’t mind loud noises or farm machinery( there’s an air soft centre outside the arena aswell as annual shooting on the farm)
Pops a small course - jumping is still a work in progress currently jumping 40/50 cross poles

He’s a typical pony will pull you for grass when leading him but is a saint when ridden.

Would be a perfect first or second pony for a child equally a great fun Allrounder for a small adult, I am 5”5 for reference.

Darcy has 3 good balanced paces and a very bold and honest jump. She happily jumps 80cm courses with scope for 90cm . She never spooky and will jump all fillers show jumping and is equally bold cross country over water, ditches, steps etc. Fun and forward, but snaffle mouth. She is excellent to hack alone and in company and never phased by anything; dogs, lorries tractors, hedgecutters etc. Easy to ride and lead and good with other horses.
Darcy has he has been the most fantastic second pony for the last 2 yrs doing all Pony club activities including camps, cross country eventing, fun rides, team chasing, hunting and even pony racing. She has hunted regularly the past 2 seasons with the Ross Harriers and really is the ultimate hunter; forward without being strong or silly and will jump whatever is in front of her.
Darcy is a real character and very intelligent and independent. She will happily stay on her own in the field or stable. She does need time to get to know a new person and can sometimes need a treat to catch. She is fine to clip her body and mane but is sensitive on her legs and head where you need a lot of patience or sedation. . Great to lead shoe, load and travel.
Darcy is a kind and affectionate mare, but is grumpy to have her saddle put on which hasn't changed in 2 yrs so just needs to be tied on a short rope. Has been scoped for ulcers and it was totally clear. She has also had regular physio and has had no injuries or been sick or sorry. Up to date with vaccinations, worming etc Happily lives out and low maintenance.
Very sadly outgrown after 2 great years, Darcy is looking for a knowledgeable new home with a confident child, teenager or small adult to go out and have lots of fun. Not for anyone novice or at all nervous as she is a forward going, lively pony who suits a gutsy rider.

Dougal is an incredible pony, he taken my daughter through the ranks teaching her as they go.

He is extremely well put together and would excel in M&M working classes, he would be hard to beat in a line up.

Dougal is very easy on the ground, he’s great in the stable, good to catch, loads and he gets turned out with others, not fussed by machinery and is generally pretty unflappable.

He isn’t strong, never put a foot wrong and this a genuine sale of a fabulous pony.

13.1hh 12 year old traditional cob mare.
She is a true leg at each corner.
I am 5ft9 and I am the rider in the photos.

Mya has been with me for two years now. She has been professionally re-started, ridden away and produced by myself for over a year now, so has had a fantastic re-start to her education. She has been produced slowly and correctly and is proving to be a lovely all rounder who is super honest and always tries her very hardest to please you.
Mya is the most gentle and affectionate soul and is a very loyal little mare who will give you her whole heart. She loves a fuss and a cuddle and just spending time with you.
Mya likes to take life in the steady lane! She is snaffle mouthed at all times and has excellent breaks! She can pick up a gear if asked but she never offers it, she is definitely more whoa than go! Although I do think with more fitness she will find that much easier as she is super willing to give anything a go. She’s schooling beautifully in walk and trot and works over poles and will trot over a tiny jump. She quietly pops into canter but is not fit enough yet for lots of canter work or for me to progress her canter work in the school but this certainly will come with more time!

I have started boxing her up and getting her out and about and she is an absolute pleasure away from home, she loads and travels quietly, ties up outside the box happily, stands to be mounted and is very level headed about it all and very much enjoys seeing and trying new things!
She has done two Trec clinic’s, which she absolutely loved and she tackled all the obstacles very boldly! She has also been to a pole clinic and was a superstar.
She has been to a dressage competition (and is going to more so I will add scores as we get them) and gave me two lovely tests scoring 65.68% and 2nd place and then 66.14% and 4th place. With lovely comments from the judges on all her sheets.

She is a very special little lady with such a massive heart and I know when she finds her perfect partner that she will bring so much happiness and love into their life, someone is going to be very lucky to have her in their life. I’m in absolutely no rush and she will only be sold to her perfect partner and forever home, she deserves the very best and in the meantime we will keep going out and enjoying having fun together until that person finds us.

She is up to date with everything, farrier (she is barefoot), fully vaccinated for flu and tetanus, worming and worm counts, teeth and physio.
She is happy to live in or out, she currently comes in for a few hours a day and turned out with two other mares the rest of the time.
She loads and travels well in a box, I have never had her in a trailer but I can’t see her being a bother as she loves to go out in the box.
She has a passport and microchip.

Homes will be vetted, I am looking for a forever home only please.

No novices please, as much as she is a very straightforward pony to work with and handle I would prefer her to find an experienced home who will give her the very best care.
Absolutely no dealers, no time wasters, no day dreamers, no novices, no joy riders, no riding schools, no loans and no payment plans.

Based East Riding of Yorkshire

If you go to Spring House Farm stud’s Facebook and TikTok you will find posts/photos/videos of her.
If you think she sounds like what you are searching for please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Messages ONLY please, my phone signal is terrible so calls are hard to hear and I don’t pick up unknown numbers.

Very Sad sale, both my daughters have now out grown him, this pony LOVES to go fast, he loves nothing more than hacking and galloping through fields!

Last summer he started hacking out alone but does need a confident rider to do this. Hacking in company he will go first or last. Has seen all traffic lorries, tractors, motorbikes, has hacked past sheep, cows other horses. He does sometimes need a little time to process things that aren't usually there, but once he has will move forward I think taking confidence from his rider and put this down to age. Proven to be safe in open fields.

Schooling isn't his favourite and I feel with the right home and consistency this would improve."Can occasionally put in a buck when fresh or if work has been inconsistent, therefore suited to a confident rider."

Very low mileage and has only just started to jumping , he absolutely loves to jump. I would be so happy if his new person could continue this journey with him!!
Good doer. Bare foot.
Upto date with wormer and teeth.
In summer lives out happily, used to being stabled at night over winter.
Due to being on individual turn out/diy livery he does like to have another horse for company and will get upset if turned out alone.
No health issues or vices.
Easy to catch he comes to you!

Ideal home would be with a keen and capable young rider wanting to jump and have fun with.
13.1hh but wide and chunky enough to carry a 5'5 rider.
Not suitable as a 1st pony as can be sharpe at times.
