Romy is a beautiful young mare with exceptional quality, outstanding breeding and all the attributes to make a top-class sport horse in the right hands.

I purchased her in November last year following a full five-stage vetting, including a full set of X-rays. She had been lightly backed and was ready to continue her education. She has a fabulous temperament, is highly intelligent, and her loose jump is truly exceptional.

Unfortunately, just two weeks after I bought her, she sustained an injury which required a joint flush and resulted in a minor lesion to her superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT). She has never been lame as a result of the injury and has spent the past eight months turned away to recover.

She is 100% sound, with the only remaining sign being a small, soft lump on her hock where the arthroscopy camera port was inserted. My vet expects this to reduce over time. Also a superficial scar from the pressure sore her bandage caused.

During her rehabilitation, I purchased a small Connemara mare to ride. Having had time to reflect, I’ve realised that Romy is simply more horse than I want. She deserves someone who can fulfil her enormous potential.

She will need bringing back into work gradually and sensibly, as you would expect after time off, but I recently tacked her up and rode her quietly up the lane without any issues. My vet has advised there is no reason she should not return to full competition work with a careful and progressive fitness programme.

Her breeding speaks for itself.

Her sire, Condios CC Z, is an outstanding grey Zangersheide stallion by the legendary Cornet Obolensky, renowned for his athleticism, careful technique and elegant movement. Condios CC Z is currently competing successfully at 1.35m level and has already established himself as an exciting sire of modern sport horses.

Her dam is by Emir R, the highly respected KWPN stallion who competes internationally at 1.60m level and is recognised for passing on exceptional scope, technique and rideability.

Romy has all the talent, athleticism and pedigree to develop into a serious competition horse with the right rider and production.

She doesn’t particularly suit my quiet smallholding in rural Cornwall. She forms strong attachments and becomes unsettled when my Connemara mare is taken away, although she is perfectly happy leaving the Connie herself to go out. I genuinely believe she would thrive on a busy competition or professional yard where there are plenty of horses and a consistent routine. She has a wonderful temperament and very much a cuddly non mareish mare.

I’m approaching 50, lack the confidence to produce a horse of her calibre after her time off, and only have large grass fields with no arena or facilities. It simply isn’t the right environment for either of us.

Finding Romy the right home is far more important than the price. She owes me around £20,000, but her price is very negotiable to an experienced, knowledgeable and kind rider who can give her the future she deserves or she would equally make a valuable broodmare with her bloodlines.

Pretzel is the sweetest mare ever! She is so scopey, and so careful with a fantastic technique and attitude.

Pretzel has jumped upto newcomers, more recently in the past 2 weeks has picked up 3 British novice DC’s. We’ve been collecting her double clears however she’s more than ready to step up.

She is an exceptional jumper! Ultra careful and super ridable. She’s brave and bold, will jump any filler or tray you put in front of her. We’ve jumped her over a couple of xc fences and she proved bold - I can’t see why she wouldn’t go on to make a superb eventer.

Pretzel is extremely well bred by Cantona TN x Mylord Carthago. Her direct dam has produced 140 jumpers. Her great grand dam has produced multiple 150 jumpers and a handful of xc/dressage horses.

She’s a dream to have around, loads on our 3.5t & 26t. She’s good to hack in traffic, we’ve not hacked her alone but I honestly can’t see her being a problem - she’s very straight.

Good to shoe & travel & clip. She turns out alone or in company and doesn’t mind living in our out.

She was imported over from Belgium at the end of last year having been used as an addition to the stud, she bred 2 beautiful foals and was backed at the beginning of this year.

She’s a beautiful type, clean and correct with no lumps/bumps or sarcoids.

Rides beautiful on the flat, just picking up her changes. She’s very rhythmical to a fence, stays in a level canter.

She’s still weak and requires further production so absolutely no novices however she’d be a wonderful horse for a teen coming off ponies to produce or an amateur to bring on, she has the best mindset so would do a variety of jobs!
