Shelby is a genuine, kind-hearted Thoroughbred gelding with a sweet nature, willing attitude and trainable mindset. ROR eligible. He is a forward-going horse with a big stride and plenty of engine, so wouldn't be suitable for a novice. That said, he is not naughty or dangerous – he does not buck, rear or bolt. He simply enjoys getting on with the job and is best suited to a confident, capable rider who can make the most of his ability. Shelby has a sensible outlook and enjoys having a job. He schools nicely in the arena and hacks alone or in company. 

We have owned Shelby for the last five years. My partner originally bought him to play polocrosse after he came out of racing, and he competed successfully in polocrosse, however it became clear that this wasn't the sport for him. I then spent six months reschooling him in dressage, before Shelby was loaned to a teenage boy for a year. During his loan he was regularly schooled, hacked and competed in online dressage. 

Unfortunately, due to a lack of transport, he has not had the opportunity to compete in person in dressage or other disciplines. Due to a change in circumstances, the loan has now ended and Shelby has spent the last nine weeks being professionally schooled. I no longer have the time required to keep him in consistent work, so this is a very difficult sale. 

Shelby can occasionally be seen to windsuck around feed times. This is mild and is reflected in his price. He is good to shoe, catch, groom and tack up. He is currently fit and in work and ready to continue his education with his new rider. He would suit a knowledgeable home looking for a talented, genuine horse to enjoy dressage, riding club activities, showjumping or eventing.

Tyson is a super 16hh 5-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding who combines quality and ability with the sort of temperament and rideability that is incredibly hard to find.

What really makes Tyson special is his brain and attitude.

He is a lovely forward-going ride, responsive to the leg and genuinely enjoyable, yet remains level-headed, sensible and safe. He wants to get on with the job without ever making life difficult and always gives his rider a lovely positive feeling.

Tyson is always ridden in a snaffle, is light and straightforward in the hand and is nicely responsive without being sharp or silly.

Tyson is one of those really useful horses who could genuinely turn his hoof to almost anything.

He has already been out showjumping and cross-country, both training and at shows, confidently jumping around 80/90cm. He has taken everything in his stride and continues to show just how genuine, brave and straightforward he is.

He is naturally athletic with a scopey, careful jump, but what makes him particularly appealing is how easy and rideable he remains. He is nicely forward and takes you to a fence without becoming strong, silly or overexcited.

Cross-country he is brave and willing, happily tackling a variety of fences and always looking to get to the other side. He gives his rider a lovely feeling and is very forgiving if they don't see the perfect stride.

At shows, Tyson has proved himself to be sensible, level-headed and uncomplicated, taking the atmosphere completely in his stride.

For only a five-year-old, he already has an excellent amount of useful experience without having been overproduced or having too many miles put on the clock.

Tyson hunted last season and proved himself to be remarkably sensible and level-headed, particularly for such a young horse.

He took the atmosphere and excitement in his stride, kept his head and behaved beautifully. That experience has given him a fantastic education and says a lot about his temperament.

He is forward enough to be great fun, but importantly remains rideable and sensible – exactly what you want in a young hunter.

He is good in traffic, sensible out and about and doesn't need another horse there to hold his hand.

Beau retired sound from racing in March 2022 and has been in the same loving home ever since, where he has enjoyed a varied and fun second career.

During this time, he has regularly attended Riding Club clinics, formation riding and Working Equitation clinics, alongside competing at Intro and Prelim dressage, consistently achieving scores of 65%+ with lovely comments from the judges.

Beau is happy alone or in company and has spent much of the last four years exploring Dartmoor, often on solo adventures. He is confident over all types of terrain, happily goes through water, stands patiently at gates and is perfectly content waiting while you stop for a chat. He's well accustomed to cattle, sheep, dogs and Dartmoor ponies. Beau is sensible in traffic, although he can occasionally have a little look at a large rattly trailer if it catches him by surprise.

Although jumping hasn't been a major part of his life so far, Beau has attended the occasional gridwork clinic with his owner. Since arriving with us, we've started introducing him to more jumping and he has proven to be an honest, brave and straightforward ride. He's unfazed by fillers and has taken everything in his stride.

Beau has now been to his first show jumping competition and behaved impeccably throughout the day. He jumped two lovely, confident rounds, taking everything in his stride and proving himself to be a very genuine and straightforward horse in a new environment. This has given us even more confidence in his potential as a competition and all-round Riding Club horse.

Beau is an absolute delight to have around and has quickly become a yard favourite. He is good to catch, clip, shoe, load and travel, with lovely manners both in and out of the stable.
